It'll be released just after Black & White for the PS1.

Surprised they haven't stuck GT1 or 2 on the PSN so far though. Perhaps GT2 being spread over two discs poses a problem.

Bit of a joke if you ask me. They have the money to hire some good people for Polyphony and to finsh the game...

Yet that dev team cannot even release their flagship title for the PS3, we just get a taster (quite a large one, but nonetheless its not the full game).

Pros! ;)

Rpt81, you are kidding with the fact that GT2 spread on 2 discs is posing a problem...Right!?
The homebrewers managed to solve the problem for a lot of the PS One games a long time ago and the mighty Sony it's unable to do the same?!
And, like someone mentioned, the full fledged GT5 it's not finished yet....

GT1 & GT2 on PSP isn't all that - they look terrible against something like Colin McRae 2005 developed for PSP.

They homebrewers didn't solve it, Sony did. They updated their emulation engine to have a swap disc function in it.
What they do need to do is allow you to sacrifice some buttons in games if you want to use the analogue nub as that. At the moment it just maps the dpad to it which is cack.

I read ages ago that Polyphony said GT5 first, GT PSP afterwards. This just seems to be a re-iteration of that intent.

The output rate at Polyphony is a joke - they either need to staff up or shape up - we all remember the mocked up GT4 screens and UMD long before the PSP was out - turned out to be, wait for it, that's right - yet another Sony smoke and Mirrors show.

Now lets assume Polyphony were given a 12 months heads up on the PSP - that means they have had 4 and a half years to make a game for it - and have produced nothing, zip, zero.

And the AI is a constant joke - having not improved much since the series started.

Hats off to them though - if people are happy to keep waiting and waiting - why bother working hard if you can afford not to?

Seems the 5 hour week must be all the rage at Polyphony.

I suspect the problem at Polyphony is that they're all perfectionists, when it comes to car detail at least. That's all very well but with such a popular franchise people just want to see an end result. This goes for the PSP version and the PS3 version. Just set a deadline and stick to it no matter what!

Even if it ever does come out, it's pretty much missed the boat really, hasn't it? It probably needed to come within the first 24 months of the PSP's launch for maximum impact.

No it's not!

They are just not making games anymore. Now they are into making cars, press releases and vapour!

Just play GT1 & 2 on your PSP via emulation it won't be much better if they bring the proper PSP version out.
GT is crap anyway dunno why anyone cares.

Dunno why Sony didn't just pay a third-party developer to port over Gran Turismo 4 to the PSP really with help from the original developers as the game clearly is not a priority for Polyphony Digital.

Good point, Darren. Although given how reportedly pedantic Polyphony are on these matters, they probably want to handle it in-house.

Still, getting another studio with a history of racing titles to handle the port, like, say, Sony Liverpool, Evolution or Bugbear might have just been the quickest and most efficient means.

They should have upgraded PSone GT2 and released that a few years ago.

Credit to Polyphony that they didn't go that route, but I doubt most people will be able to tell the difference when it eventually arrives.

Too late for me now, my PSP's four-hours away from being ebayed. Probably, by the law of Sod, as soon as I sell my PSP, Sony will release a load of great games, implement really clever features and release all the classic PS1 games on PSN.

being a GT fan all i can say is that I can't really be bothered with waiting for this game any more. i just want to get on with gaming and not be waiting for a game that i can't really see improving in any way other than the on-line play. Just not exited any more to be honest.

Fuck 'em - I'm not paying for this game when it comes out.

It can be Sony's free gift to me for fucking me about over the past 4 years with the PSP.

Already spent £500+, and I'm not impressed.
