Looks awful. But it does have the 2CV so I'm buying it just to see what a 2CV with a tuned engine and alloys looks like.

This seems to look much better in motion than it does in screenshots.

These are in the same gallery as GT5 shots?! Got me all confused for a minute there.

Looks decent for the PSP, although not nearly as good as GT on PS2.

@TheBiGW

I hear crazy French wideboys have managed to get anything up to 50hp by modifying the 2CV's engine.

The difference is that the ones on kokatu are from replays, the clue being there's no hud.

I've seen footage of this running on a PSP by filimg it over the shoulder and I don't think these screens do it much justice.
It looks a lot better in motion.

It should also be pointed out that screenshots rarely do a game justice, most games look better in motion as they are not designed to look good in screenshots.

Those new ones are more like I'd expect. Should still be great, look good enough to me! Don't like the HUD too much though, I'd have had it transparent. I'm sure you can switch them off though, you usually can.

Surely there is no one who actually believes those Kotaku shots are real?

They're real enough, but they're taken from the workstations which the game in written on, as opposed to a PSP render. So it's PSP code, but running in much higher resolution than the PSP can handle. Which is why the game looks a little er... underwhelming?

I don't count that as real, that's like in the good old days when they'd put screenshots from the Amiga version on the box for a Spectrum game.

2CV racing! I'm there dude!
I think I've been waiting for this game since the PSP first came out.
Might encourage me to blow the dust off it and give it some use.

For those of you trying to look at the screenshots using the PS3 browser, if you just click on them somehow there seems to be a bug that causes the DIV tag for the full screen image to disappear behind the rest or something. However, if you choose open in new window through the File menu option, you can see the pictures just fine.

Looks quite poor when compared to the PS2 versions. Hopefully it'll look better when running; it would want to, especially with over 5 years of development.

The psp isn't as powerful as the ps2 why are you expecting it to look as good as that?

I think its quite funny that the "actual resolution" images are in fact smaller than the "small" versions.

Well, if you have any doubts check out the 60fps video of someone playing it on Gamersyde.

http://www.gamersyde.com/leech_11599_1_e...

It looks pretty damn good to me.

Btw the hires shots are using the game's photo-mode to render at higher quality.

edit:

Er... what order are these comments appearing in?

Anyhooo - I'll look forward to rallying around in a 2CV, but here's what's missing:

- Analogue acceleration and braking

- Friends lists and game invites

- Online play? (hopefully not...)

- ergonomic analogue steering (that doesn't require thumb gymnastics and subsequent aching)

Shame they didn't fix any of this with the new version of their handheld...

Based on the video footage of this however, plus the long development time - I'm VERY curious to see the finished product.

edit 2:

Just a thought - I wasn't even 25 when I saw the first official box shots of this game. I instantly knew I was buying a PSP upon launch.

I'll turn 30 next year, and my PSP is sat on my desk, turned on only occasionally or during trips away from home. What a waste, and Sony's reputation in the eyes of many gamers must be severely damaged.

@ PearOfAnguish: Well, aside from a whole bunch of ridiculous fanboys in that kotaku comment thread. :P Now that these screens are out, I don't expect to hear a peep out of them anymore.

I've always been a GT fan ever since the PSX original, so I'm kinda disappointed myself to be honest.
