Gran Turismo could come to PC News

PC PlayStation 2 PSOne PSP PlayStation 3
News by Ellie Gibson

15 April, 2008

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said that a PC instalment in the hit racing series is something he'd consider doing in the future.

Speaking to Austrian wesbite Der Standard (as translated by videogaming247) Yamuachi said, "It is very, very improbable that GT will come out on another console.

"But perhaps it comes to the PC. Particularly [so we could spread the game in] the Chinese market."

Nothing definite, then, but it's nice to know he's thinking about it. While you're waiting you could always read our review of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, which is out now.

He will have to up the standard quite a lot if he wants to do that.

@asphaltcowboy - You've hit the nail on the head there with that comment! LOL

While it would be really cool to see Gran Turismo running on a powerful PC, I really wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it. If it does happen I doubt we'll see it this side of 2010.

Why bother? Live For Speed and rFactor are already better and they're older. Full deformation, fuel usage, pit stop strategies, stall-able engines, clutch control etc.

+1 Dizzy and Systems.

There are games several years old that wipe the floor with GT (which itself is basically a 10 year old game)

Shouldn't be a hard port, PC's having straight forward architecture and all.

As mentioned it has nothing PC games don't already have.

As much as I like my PC-sims, GT is exactly the kind of game that's missing from the PC lineup. A PC version would be awesome.

I have a PC for driving games and a PS3 with GT5 Pro. There are no driving games available for PC which could be directly compared to GT5.

The only reason why I use PC for driving games is because of TrackIR which is amazing.

I have seen demonstartion video of Sony's Playstation Eye being used for head tracking. Now, if that could be done in the full version of GT5 released next year, then Sony will have the ultimate videogame driving experience.

Alternatively, release it on the PC but with TrackIR support. Either way the consumer wins.

Apart from the actual driving of course, which is exceptionally weak compared to the competition (any platform).

Are we talking Gran Turismo 5 here? Or... Gran Turismo HD? Or Gran Turismo 5 Prologue? Or Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Concept? Or a demo of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue?

This boy is sad, don't you think?

"I have a PC for driving games and a PS3 with GT5 Pro. There are no driving games available for PC which could be directly compared to GT5"

Graphically, no. But tons of PC driving games are better than any GT in gameplay.

But LFS still has an "AI" that seems lifted straight out of GT4, doesn't it? :p Or has it finally gotten a hugely needed upgrade?
Great sim, but since I prefer offline racing I never played it much, but stuck with GTR 1+2, rFactor, RACE etc.

Don't think so. LFS is pretty much designed for multiplayer.
