Gran Turismo PSP, I remember them sending out the fake PSP cases etc... it's the PSP's Duke Nukem Forever.

Can it and make it for the next gen version of the PSP instead.

Well I would be surprised if they were moving backwards.

"When Yamauchi thinks to the future of online, he plans content for internet connections "ten-thousand-times faster", apparently. "

Err????

I am writing software for Internet speed that are 1 billion times faster!!! That is how amazing my feature will be.

Why can't these idiots say something normal... do they think they are cool when they hyperbole like this?

I just hope he manages to convince the car-makers to let him do the damage. Wasn't there a rumour that Ferrari or someone were holding it back?

Yea apparentl Ferrari were being anal about it. I think the issue is they ant to do realistic damage so manufacturers are wary.

I've really never understood that. How did Bizarre Creations get around Ferrari for PGR, in allowing their cars to get damaged?

Car manufacturers don't like their cars to be seen as unsafe or shown in a damaged way. The only way to convince them is with a chequebook unfortunately. Ferrari, for instance, ask for about 5% of your game's sales.

Forza, and many others, render the whole "they won't allow it" thing null and void. I do realise they may be trying to take it furthur and have totally realistic damage, but I'd understand if that wasn't possible and it could only go as far as Forza did. That was enough to disuade me from using other cars as brakes/barriers as I do in GT5P.

Because bizzare creations damage was very little, im sure if "GT5 the real driving simulator" wanted to do damage it would be "real damage simulator"

Yeah.. you hit a car once, then you have to stop, call the police and fill in forms.

If cars took damage in Turismo then I'd want to see the real life car being trashed too, so I knew it's authentic.

I think it is time for Sony to kick Polyphony into touch or get new management it - they clearly have little direction internally. Waste of time and money which could be directed to a studio which can release stuff and don't blather on about online features like they are a mystical tricky problem when it's something every other racer for the last 5 years has had.

By the time GT Portable for PSP comes out, I'll be so old that my hands will have so much arthritis in them that I'll need to buy 2 more (back-up) PSPs, just in case I drop the one I'm holding!

Does everyone feel the same as I do? That this is going to be launching on a hand-held that's been relatively ignored and underwhelmed and, like seems to be happening with LPB on PS3, it's not going to be the console seller Sony was hoping (read: praying) for?

And really, who cares now about GT5 - Full On/The Real One/The One That Had Too Many Bugs, So We Released A Smaller Version First/Post-Log or whatever the hell they're going to call it?!

I mean Prologue would've been out probably 18 months ahead, so is anyone going to revisit this game, just for more cars when you consider the majority of people (like myself) have only ever bought it for the high-octane entertainment value and to rightfully claim that they "got it" and have 'played it'?

I don't mean to take anything from those hard-core gamers that love every part of the GT series and enjoy the tweaks and so on, but realistically speaking, seriously, how many people actually 'finish' the game? And isn't that line blurred these days, anyway, with such titles?

All I'm trying to say, I guess, is that both Polyphony/Sony strategy seems to be somewhat lost and these releases will come out either too late (for a title that's by then tired and probably superseded) and on a platform that has been underutilised since inception.

Food for thought, anyway...

Due for release late next year? LATE? NEXT YEAR?

Holy crap are they training shaved monkeys to code at Polyphony or something?

Maybe they will do a better job on GT5 than the dreadful prologue, but at this rate Forza 3 will be out before GT5 and will totally eclipse it, just like Forza 2 did with prologue.

hmmm i care about GT5 and sure a whole lot of overpeople do considering the sales of GT5p. GT5 will play alot different and probably look alot different if GT4p is anything to go buy, plus top gear test track FTW!

no racing game looks better, roll on GRAN TURIMSO!

Correction. No racing game looked better at the time, it's been surpassed several times now, and GT5p looked terrible in action due to the horrendous amounts of tearing and frequent frame drops.

They should make the next GT playable rather than just shining it up for screenshots.

My guess : GT PSP will never see the light of day.

It was - and is - vapourware which was at the time - launch of the psp - only meant to promote the console. It is almost confessed in the interview : work will start "proper" after the release of GT5 "late next year".

So this give us a release window of, say, 2011-2012. Right in time for psp 2... :)

lol @farticus as usual

you dont even have a playstation, there is minor screen tear and very minor frame drops on only some of the courses when played at 1080p if you play it at 1080i or 720p then there are no framerate issues or screen tear and the game is perfectly playable hence all the high review scores

LOL! what a troll, how much do microsoft pay u to spread propaganda? or do u just suck there c#ck for free?! lol!!

Ah, thus I've never played on one, right? No, very wrong in fact.

"there is minor screen tear and very minor frame drops on only some of the courses when played at 1080p if you play it at 1080i or 720p then there are no framerate issues or screen tear"

Again, completely wrong. There is excessing tearing at 720p, pretty much every time another car gets in view or any time there is any detail in the trackside scenery. I know this for a fact as I have played it on my 720p television. It was extremely offputting.

I wont even get in to the lack of damage or ability to ride rails and glide off other cars. In a supposed 'simulator' that is just laughable.

The tearing is proven and documented, and my TV is just fine, thanks.

The problem is Polyphony pushing the game engine past the capabilities of the hardware in some kind of stupid 'our magazine shots look better than yours' pissing competition, when they should be concentrating on updating the very tired handling and damage models and, oh I dunno, making the game play well.

Everything is about fanboyism with you. You are completely obsessed with the topic.

Had the thought not sparked in your limited hate-filled brain that I might actually want to play a good GT again with my PS3 owning friends?

GT5p is NOT a good game and it still wouldnt be a good game on the Xbox. I still have GT3 and it's a more enjoyable package overall.

"you can just ignore news items like this cause u have no interest in polyphony's boring highly rated and high selling racing series."

No, I won't ignore news items like this because, surprisingly, I'm quite into videogames and this is a news item on a videogame of particular interest to me. The only thing I will be ignoring are your idiotic comments.

@ chris_ace:

I wish that GT5 will be improved over GT5P, but I've not seen anything saying so. Indeed, the interviews with the developers, just before and during the release of GT5P all seemed to indicate that the 'full' game will merely include the intended full set of cars.

This was also true when I a while back I read an interview with the main guy at Polyphony (sorry, can't remember the name) and he said that Sony is always pressuring us to release GT before we've polished it to the level we want.

And I see that they have done it again. I think every Prologue is a Sony demand and every full GT release is a Polyphony polished and finished game.

I don't know what a PSP version is going to be like - the game will be limited by what the PSP can cope with (graphics-wise) and how much it can hold (storage-wise). So a certain amount of compromise is already, understandably, visible.

No matter how you look at these releases though, they will come WAY LATER than their original promise/releases and that usually leaves either a bitter/indifferent taste in the mouth of fans.

Over & Out.

That really shouldnt matter. GT on the PS2 was superb, and GT-PSP could be superb as long Polyphony ignore the directive to make the game look great in stills and allow it to look shit in motion and play like a game from the 90's.

Simply scale back the visuals ever so slightly, get a decent frame rate, tighten up the handling and GT-PSP could be a superb game, as could GT5. However, keeping a stale game core and adding more lighting effects will guarantee another pile of shit.

Sorry I played the GT-games for a long time, but there is just no progression, just more and prettier cars.
