GoW composer doing Jericho

Barker hand picked him.

Codemasters has announced that God of War composer Cris Velasco will be making the music for Clive Barker's Jericho.

The spooky author hand picked him for the role, apparently, and is keen to sing his praises.

"Cris Velasco’s music for Clive Barker’s Jericho is exquisite," said Barker from his crypt. "Filled with yearning, dark energy, threat and redemption, it is the unstoppable engine in the terrifying ghost train of Jericho."

Clive Barker's Jericho is a squad-based tactical shooter for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. You control a unique supernatural task force sent to some silly old ruins right in the heart of a dodgy dimensional rift, so you can uncover and stop an ancient evil from rising again.

Barker is scribing the plot and overseeing the production of the game, probably jumping out on people in dark corridors or writing eerie messages in blood on the walls.

To get an idea of how Velasco's music is shaping up, pop into Eurogamer TV for today's new trailer.

Clive Barker's Jericho is due for release in October, and you can find our first impressions of the game elsewhere on the site

Nice, a new trailer. I hope they stuck to their guns (npi) on the difficulty. Sorry, but you try managing a team of seven (technically, six) in unknown locations. Anyway, I really like the QTE's shown so far. Since, you're just running along, and the ground goes out from under you, for example. There's no prelude, no hint, you just fall, as you probably would, and then must simulate with the button presses struggling to pull yourself up again. Much more cinematic and engaging. I also like how the team keep communicating. Granted, much of its banter, from what's been shown before, but they would almost certainly be adopting that way, in such situations. I hope this doesn't fall down in combat implementation, but with a demo due "in the near future" on 360, it won't be long till I can find out for myself.

    Looking good, so far.

You mean a generic FPS with the GoW composer on board.

What the hell is a generic FPS compared to a non-generic FPS anyway the only one I could label generic that I've played was Doom 3 which pissed me off as I was playing it, the reason for that might of been that I bought the Doom 3 special edition for the Xbox and played the original Doom first, which made me irate when i played Doom 3 itself.

Just for a second I thought someone actually made a game based on the quite-decent-second-part-of-first-season-but-currently-on-li fe-support-pending-performance -of-first-half-of-second-season TV series Jericho.

Good choice, because GoW has some of the best music I've ever heard in a game.

    "yawn. another generic FPS "

Is this along the same lines as:

    yawn. another generic platformer

    or

    yawn. another generic RPG

    or

yawn. another generic Real Time Strategy game

    or

    yawn. another generic sports game

    or even

yawn. another generic "yawn. another generic FPS" comment.

In other words, get a fucking life. It's a popular game genre, so what the else were you expecting? Besides, we've heard it all before about a million times. You don't like FPSs? Don't buy them then and quit bleedin whining.
