God of War: Ghost of Sparta unveiled

Ready At Dawn's latest PSP game.

Sony has announced a second PSP God of War game called Ghost of Sparta.

Chains of Olympus developer Ready At Dawn returns to do the honours and plans a release "later this year".

The story will be a prequel "of sorts" and pick up where God of War left off. In Ghost of Sparta, Kratos will have to brave his past to rid his mind of nightmares that torment him. The story touches on the origins of lost worlds, Kratos' tattoo, scar and family.

"I can also tell you from first-hand experience that we are pushing the limits of what PSP can do with state-of-the-art visual technologies, higher resolution environments, and greater depths of scale," said Eric Levine, SCEA PR, on the US PlayStation blog.

"We're also providing over 25 per cent more gameplay, an improved weapon system, and new magical powers - all enjoyed anytime, anywhere."

God of War: Chains of Olympus - released in 2008 - was an impressive example of what could be achieved on PSP. Check out our review to find out more.
