after GoW and L4D, lack of meaty co-op multiplayer on next gen systems is a massive oversight. This title would have been perfect.

Nice to hear the Wii getting its own version of the game rather than a watered-down port. Exclusive co-op mode is also excellent.

Co-op story mode in the Wii version might encourage me to play both it and the 360 version which will be my default.

I wonder, when you clock a level, does a grainy 8-bit vocoder voice inside your console scream "Ghostbusters!"?
I doubt it, as these current so-called 'games' consoles don't have in-built speakers. Pathetic. |

It's either supernatural combat or a time-lapse photo taken at a rave.
Well at least that made me laugh after the write up not being particularly positive. Then again the Eurogamer Fallout 3 previews were preety negative and that was one of the best games of last year. @Bilbo_bobbins: I think Goldeneye would have something to say about your comment. |

I was never expecting a masterpiece, but I'm hoping for a solid 7-or-8-out-of 10-er. Obviously, it won't be as good as the C64/Spectrum version, because nothing can be, as I played that when I was about seven, and therefore it is untouchable in the hallowed recesses of my nostalgia.

This is totally going to be a 6/10 game. I knew when I saw the first footage, and I still know now. It's a 6/10 game. That's that. Of course, unless it's some *special* kind of travesty, I'll have to at least give it a rental. Ghostbusters is my favourite film of all time. I'll have to check this out.
The trailer showed some of Bill Murray's voice work. It was disappointing. It was Murray alright; but he'd recorded his lines in a very quiet tone of voice which didn't suit the tone of the action-packed scenes. That's a mistake you heard a lot in early voice-acted games. Hope it wasn't Murray purposely being bored and difficult. |

I'm still trying to reserve a little optimism for this, but let's face it, the signs aren't great. While it might still be an okay game, this is not just an okay license, and it deserves to be given the best treatment it can possibly receive.
But as far as saying "all/most games based on movies are shit," let's remember that most games regardless aren't that amazing either. We just notice the licensed ones more. WHO YA GONNA CALL? Maybe Gearbox or Neversoft, if there's a next time. |

if it got the Ray Parker Jr. Song in it... what could possibly go wrong. I feared for the worst... but if this game is half decent, than it will be bought.

No, the ps2 gets a cutback wii version.. Although i admit - the wii version will probably be made with the ps2 constraints in mind.. - But pointing my wiimote at the screen as a proton gun.. is a heck of a lot more interesting to me than using dual sticks (hate dual stick shooting games - give me a mouse or a wiimote any day!)

It was legal issues for anyone wondering :) Anyway can't wait for this it's such a crime they never made more but I suspect Ghostbusters 2 killed any chance of that :) Aliens, Riddick, Godfather 2, Ghostbusters - it's (hopefully) a good year for movie licenses for a change! |

Hmmm... as it's not a direct movie tie in, and so not (a) hamstrung by the cost of the license, and (b) tied to the release date of a movie (in fact, might even get them some extra time if it's decided to tie in with the new movie), it has a better than most chance of not sucking.
But do we get some 80s vintage scantily clad Sigourney? Definite sale if we do. |

Why not make the cartoon ghostbusters in the 360/PS3, and take advantage of the more powerful hardware to make more complex environments and phisics, include local coop and make a longer campaign?
It seems Ghostbusters is a licence that will fit perfectly on cartoon style games. Why only develop for the Wii using that style, and then make a game with "upgraded visuals" for the PS3/360 which it is full of flaws and hardly makes justice to the licence of ghostbusters? Developers, stay away from perfect picture graphics. In many cases the game pacing and playability suffers from the graphics requirements. Use the added power to go nuts on the game design, not on the graphics. |
