Due this autumn, beta in summer.

Ubisoft's big reveal has turned out to be Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, a new instalment in the tactical shooter series that's due for release this autumn.

The name may ring a bell, as Ubisoft filed a trademark to protect the title last December.

A press release promises "cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes".

Owners of Splinter Cell: Conviction will be invited to participate in a Future Soldier multiplayer beta this summer.

No platforms have been announced.

Well I guess I won't be getting into the beta then! I got very bored with Splinter Cell games - but GR:AW was fantastic, let's hope this one is as good.

Hopefully as it's the future they'll have an engine that doesn't tear like a wet-paper bag on a thorn bush.

Do we know if it'll have Ubi's new 'must connect to the internet at all times to play' DRM?

The Future Soldier is bristling with weapons and equipment giving him a massive advantage on the battlefield. The only problem is that it all shuts down if he loses his internet connection.

Yay, I will not buy this.

Can't we get a return to the originals? Pleaase... I bought GRAW 2 during christmas and I find it to be pretty shallow on a tactical level.

So Ubi are going to release a shooter around the same time as Call of Duty 6 and Medal of Honor?

They might as well just delay it to 2011 now because I can't see them doing it. They're more than happy to delay games when others look like taking sales away (e.g. Splinter Cell).

What do you think the odds are of them adding killstreaks and perks to the game.. Everyone wants a piece of the MW2 pie! If it's tactical and nothing like MW then I'm interested, if it is gonna be yet another MW clone they can shove it

Oh yeah, more Ghost Recon awesomeness. Love this series, and the multiplayer is fantastic. This series was doing a Horde like mode way before even Gears 2. Can't beat a game that puts you in charge of soldiers and vehicles

Are ye talking about GRAW on the PC or 360, the PC versions were a crappy FPS at best. GRAW on the 360 are completely different games and are much better.

Should've been called Super Ghost Recon Turbo Alpha Ex. Would go nicely with Final Call of Duty 27 and Medal of Honor the Rebirth Director's Cut Special Edition, in another one of the milking shooter franchises to below absolutely zero interest.

I actually thought GR:AW2 was pretty fun. Sometimes i enjoy hiding in the corner watching my small team take the bullets for me, infact ive been replaying it the past week and im enjoying it all over again. Agreed, it wasn't very tactical but it felt good playing on it. I do hope this will be more of the same, but i fear they will go too far and add way too much crap onto it.

Ive never liked the Splinter Cell series, so its bad news already, but ile hold onto hope.

Aye, the original GRAW was a totally different game than the one on the 360, I played them both... frankly the PC one was a big disappointment after trying it out on my friends 360, it didn't even have those cool outline-things you had on the consoles. None were as good as the first one though.
