GH3 tuned-up on Live

Boss Battles outside campaign.

A free update for Guitar Hero III is now available to download on Xbox Live.

Its 72MB and gives you original compositions by hairy guitarist Slash and Tom Morello, as well as cover track Devil Went Down to Georgia as made famous by The Charlie Daniels Band.

Worth pointing out that this is already in the game, but now you can get it without thrashing your way to the necessary bit of the single-player mode.

This is all theoretical for us Europeans, naturally, as GH3 is not actually out here until next Friday. However, the US already has two downloadable song packs from Velvet Revolver and the Foo Fighters, and if you are unsure about either you can watch new trailers for them on Marketplace to make your mind up.

Slash is in Velvet Revolver, though, and they were awesome at Live 8. He is awesome in general. Lovely leather trousers and hair.

Go and read our Guitar Hero III review and get excited. Best yet.

Of course the 360 version of Guitar Hero 3 is region free so you could just import a copy...

I believe Velvet Resolver is most of Guns'n'Roses, with the exception of Axel Rose. Not quite my bag, but perhaps an important pedantic note for those who liked gnr.

    72MB?

But the content is already in the game...

The songs are already in the game, but you can't play 'em in multiplayer. I'd assume that's what this is for. Perhaps the ability to play each song in single-player without being in battle mode has also been added? That'd be nice :)

    "GHII >>> GHIII"

    We've played both have we?

GHII seems to have a better song list, the engine makes the songs far more fun to play as well.

I have this imported - and it is better than GH2

Online is awesome, although at the moment all of the opposition is americans who are really good at this !!

The DLC is good. The slash, Tommy & Lou guitar battles are all very fast, and good now you can play them in multiplayer.

I also downloaded the Foo Fighters DLC - a little pricey (AGAIN) - 500 points for 3 songs - but well worth it.

The difficulty seems to be raised since GH2. On medium, you still only use 4 strings but the songs seems faster with more notes and more changes. Hard & expert really add life to the game. Some of the achievements will take ages to get too.

    Get this game

Guitar Hero III has been out in Australia since 7th of November. How come you guys haven't got it yet?!?!?!?!? I got it on release day and am up to the last boss battle in career mode.

I would say that GHIII is actually a little easier than GH2 as it seems to be a little more lenient on when you hold the fret button down and strum (the window of opportunity is a little wider meaning u can be slightly ealry or late on your strum and still hit the note). I also downloaded the Foo Fighter pack and it's good, however I would have like other songs like "My Hero", "Everlong", "Times Like These", etc.
