Am I correct in thinking that you can no longer box using the face buttons in this version?

I really hope they have made the stick control more responsive!
  • BBIAJ #2 3 years ago

I'm guessing this is online only, and not in-store, where I pre-ordered mine? The swines!
  • deathdealer619 #3 3 years ago

    I have it!
Got it from gamestation went in and got it yesterday.
  • jonsaan #4 3 years ago

I used the buttons because it was simply more responsive and easier to pull off what I wanted. The stick controls were just odd. Most people who whinge about button users spent way too much time lying on the canvas. The biggest control issue the game had was having to pull a trigger to punch low. Ready 2 Rumble had the best boxing control system by far.

This "pre-order to get the demo" nonsense really needs to stop. The demo should encourage me to pre-order, not vice versa.
  • FooAtari #6 3 years ago

Doesn't this kind of defy the point of a demo...

    Yeah, what Dodger said.

The demo is 100% live right now if you get the code :)
  • Anthony_UK #8 3 years ago

Regards this being stick only, I can really see a massive backlash/huge bunch of people including myself avoiding this if the case.

It just seems odd and stubborn of the dev to make us play it this way, especially now the boxing is speeded up from round 3, and is now 60fps. No matter how they've tweaked the stick controls I just can't see it coming close to the precision of using the buttons. This reminds me of the whole 'restart' issue in Burnout Paradise, which wasn't a problem personally for me, but was a case of the developer knowing best, dispite what the masses actually wanted...

I'll try the demo for sure, but from being in two minds of what to get between Fightnight & UFC, it looks like now UFC is going to be getting my money on this occasion

hows about pre-ordering, get the code on thursday, then once you have the code cancel the pre-order?

or would we go to hell?
  • Santino #10 3 years ago

lol i was thinking of doing the same thing, screw this backwards demo nonsense, people want to play the demo to see if they like the game, not having to pre-order the game in order to access the demo ffs. what is the point?!
  • mashk #11 3 years ago

Are there any exploits, so I can get the demo without having to sell my soul?
  • Zebula77 #12 3 years ago

As already mentioned, pre-order the game to get the demo?!? WTF?!? I think the devs have it all backwards, since the whole point of trying a demo is to determine whether or not you want to pre-order. Silly people!

I'll wait till this demo is available on PSN, thank you very much.
  • Whizzo #13 3 years ago

I had hoped this bizarre pre-order to get demo early stuff was just going to be confined to the US.

The UFC demo being freely available has lead me to pre-order the game, unless there's a FNR4 demo similarly available then I won't be pre-ordering that.
  • KreyAtiv #14 3 years ago

As like some of the others who commented, I think the developers should have given the option to use the buttons.
I've tried to use the "Total Punch Control" thing but just didn't really like it.
I much prefer the buttons as they are more responsive. I was quite looking forward to this game as I quite enjoyed Fight Night Round 3 especially the Hard Hits mode.
Read in other comments people complaining about fighting people onlnie who were using the buttons whilst they were using the sticks, surely they could just have some matchmaking option to pit you against someone who was also using the sticks or buttons to make it fair.
The developers should have the option in it to cater for those who are fans of the previous game who enjoyed using the buttons otherwise they'll be losing out on a chunk of potential customers like myself.

Count me in as another one who wont be purchasing this game if they're forcing analogue stick control on you. Not to boast, but I'm bloody awesome at Fight Night R3 (as long as I'm using the face buttons) :) And I was really looking forward to FN4 and giving all of my mates another pummelling, but as I can't get along with the stick control for anything other than the Haymakers, I wont be getting this now. Bloody annoying :(
UFC it is then. I really liked the demo for that, and found the fighting mechanics pretty awesome. I was pleasantly surprised as I thought it was going to control like the utter shite WWE wrestling titles.
  • Loser #16 3 years ago

    Mr_Dodger is 100% correct.
  • Eraysor #17 3 years ago

I also agree with above posters in being confused by the way they're offering this demo. How am I supposed to know if it's good enough to pre-order without the demo?

The other demo-related stupidity that needs to stop is the sort of thing they did with EndWar, whereby pre-ordering supposedly got you into the beta for the game, but all you ended up doing was getting the demo a week early.

What a load of shite, pre-order for demo? Pfff.
  • adman123 #19 3 years ago

demo is 2 week exclusivity which leads me to believe it'll come out on the 28th may... ( can pre order in stores too btw)

    watch this space

    peace

  • 8bitMofo #20 3 years ago

Great news! Especially as these pre-order demos can be obtained via download, burnt to CD, and played.
I see the Wolverine demo still hasn't even come to UK shores yet, what a joke.
  • simpletingz #21 3 years ago

Congrats EA you just went and f**kd the one game I was looking forward to all this year, well done! Me and a couple of mates went down to GStation this morning to pre order and come back to be horrified.

Honestly what the F**k are these people thinking, you just made an amazing game (personal opinion) with the most bulls*** of controls. I loved the third iteration of fight night but, even the classic right stick controls feels sluggish.

  • shotgun44 #22 3 years ago

I'm so tired of being told after 20 years of using buttons to control games that I now need to use the sticks to fight. The buttons may have been a limitation of the older hardware but it works. I may just be cranky cos I don't like change very much but this is the exact same reason I don't own a wii. I don't wanna come across as a wii hater, but traditional control methods will always work better for me until they make motion sensing work to the absolute molecule!

Looking at the videos and features... it doesn't really look like much has changed in FNR4 when compared to FNR3. Sure it's physics based and the graphics are slightly prettier, but it's still going to be the same familiar game which I got tired of pretty quickly!

    Roll on Undisputed!
  • D34dP1x3l #24 3 years ago

You can get this offer both instore and online but there are a limited number of download keys available. If you went instore to pre-order it and didn't get a key it might be cos stores only received them yesterday. Its free to pre-order anyway and if you'd rather wait to play the demo before pre-ordering FN4 then just wait for the public demo which is out May 28th.
Getting access to the demo 2 weeks early is just a small incentive to pre-order with Gamestation, so quit your bitching and go do it!
  • cyber_nicco #25 3 years ago

The stick controls were AWESOME in FN3. The only fighting game I remember enjoying, actually. To those saying that they weren't fast enough, that's ridiculous. You could still land outlandish numbers of punches in a round. Why is everything supposed to be quicker? Should I be able to throw 500 punches a round? 1000?

Please, please, go back to your games with buttons, you are not needed here.

    Thanks, and buh-bye. :)
  • cyber_nicco #26 3 years ago

That being said, I suppose they could include it for single-player only use... No harm there, I guess.
  • tinners #27 3 years ago

Is it up yet to download?, EA are cheeky gits, this is a must have game tho, so im gonna get it either way :s
  • tinners #28 3 years ago

gamestation is all out of codes - dammit! :/
