I got half way through 1 and got bored I'm afraid. Epic are far too conservative to have changed the sequels enough to make much difference so doubt I'll be playing another Gears game anytime soon.

The people moaning about it don't actually have to play it, no-one is holding a gun to your head. If you don't like it, don't play it. Oh no, sorry, I forgot how much we like to complain, regardless of anything else. Carry on.
edit: Oh yeah, and the lancer being the new lightsaber is little ridicolus. They're good games, but not that bloody good!

The film would be more appealing if the story for Gears of War didn't read like it was outlined by an infant. And if Len Wiseman wasn't the most incompetent director since Paul WS Anderson. How he managed to make a man fighting a jet seem boring is beyond me.

LOL at the GOW fanboys. Go back to your emergence holes fools, Epic releases broken games and makes YOU test them once you've spent your hard earned money on them so MAYBE the game is playable after about 6 months. MAYBE.
Don't get me wrong, I loved GOW 1 - fancastic, had GOW 2 pre-ordered the first day that I could. Traded it inside 4 days because it was samey samey samey. And multiplayer was so broken it just wasn't funny anymore. Brought new meaning to the phrase 'EPIC fail' |

Haha, they could barely innovate new gameplay into the second generic title, on top of a script that would make any native English speakers' toenails curl and lavishly doured with noisy grey and brown graphics. What makes them think they can keep the franchise going for 10 years of iterations?

Gears 2 is still on my "to play" pile, but I did love the first one - short but very sweet. I'd be happy with a trilogy on 360, but for the next console, a bit more variety and innovation might be required. And maybe change the name a little, rather than just calling it Gears of War 4 or something. Gears of Death? Gears of Hate? Gears off of the Transformers? Something like that.

GoW are solid shooters, i just wish they'd stop the fucking topgun macho gay shit and really make it gritty and compelling rather than some space marine testorerone jizz fest of a story line. |

More Gears = Good thing. Although they'd better get their arris in gear if they want another one this gen. 2 year development? They haven't even started it yet. Perhaps they're waiting for next gen dev kits? Just speculating.

They are so desperately foolish if they think Gears can be that successful. It will not even come close to the huge popularity of Star Wars. It has already failed because people didn't go nuts when the first game came out. I would at least expect a huge franchise like they hope to be, to have a story with some modicum of originality in it but Gears is just a walking macho, dick swinging cliche.

Great... ^o) Gears Of War 1 was good and I loved playing online etc. Gears Of War 2 was basically Gears Of War 1.5 Hardly any graphical change, if you look at the screenshots of it on here in maximum resolution, it looks blurry as fuck.
What is it with Xbox 360 and milking games. There doing the same with Halo as well, milking it for everything it has, Halo books, Halo toys, Halo RTS, Halo FPS, Halo MMO. Please just stop and give up. You can't keep milking it. Well like the other users have said, if the fanboys keep buying it all, then what do the developers care? |

I'm up for more Gears games. It's got such tight, visceral combat that I can play it all day long.
Best thing is that I can then carry on playing co-op or horde mode as it brings plenty of variety and massively extends the life of the game. Any new shooter without co-op or a survival mode is missing a vital part of the game now. Shooters as a package have evolved. I would like to see some more free-form sections in the levels though. The scripted combat makes for great tense situations, but the opportunity to make some flanking assaults, or maybe setting traps with antipersonnel mines would be most welcome. |

Wow, if someone likes the game they're a fanboy? Oh my god, the only fanboys I see here are the haters. It's a stunning game no matter which way you look at it. IF you've actually played it that is, and I can bet that 90% of the people hating on it haven't even played it.

DomAI in the first Gears was a good example of how a co-op focused game can detract from the single player experience for me. Yes it can be done both ways, but not in every game. |

I picked up GoW2 pre-owned for £20 the other week, and for that price I was pretty happy just to play through it co-op with a mate over Live. Didn't like the multiplayer from the original Gears and since I've heard the sequel's is so broken I've not bothered even trying it.
Single-player DLC, as long as what they mean is "campaign DLC" which can be played co-op over Live, would be very appealing to me. Can't wait for Lost and Damned which will be the first piece of DLC I've ever paid for. |

Co-op is what keeps me coming back to Halo time and time again, and both horde and co-op are what keeps me playing Gears. An impressive Long List of Mario Games
On topic, I was a tad disappointed by the singleplayer of Gears 2(bit of an anticlimax with the hammer compared to RAAM in the first, also what happened to the Berserkers and Kryll?) but overall its a lot of fun to play and Horde was an inventive addition Multiplayer is it's bread and butter and although a work in progress very enjoyable (if there's no quitters, glitchers and lagswitchers) |

dunno if i'm interested in 10 years of gears, decent enough gameplay but i thought the formula had gotten a bit repetitive and stale before the end of 2, and kinda wanted the game to finish before it did: after the on rails section
anyway, new light saber? do these guys actually think before speaking? |
