Gears of War book spotted News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

4 June, 2007

Marcus and Dom are peeking over the wall dividing games and books, according to an online retailer dug up by VH1's games blogger Harold Goldberg.

The book - just "Gears of War 1" for now - is reportedly 352 pages courtesy of Steven Kent, a former games journalist.

Kent's previously written for a variety of mainstream US publications including the Seattle Times and Chicago Tribune, has penned books on the making of games, and last year released a pair of science-fiction novels - his current passion.

And if a comment on the VH1 blog from a certain "Steven Kent" is legitimate, then it looks like it's on. "Damn it Goldberg," he writes, "how do you even find this stuff!"

Speaking of finds, a quick squizz round the Epic Games forum reveals a number of burgeoning fan-fics for followers of the enigmatic Gears duo. Sons of Sera is our favourite.

Currently there's no word from either Microsoft or Epic Games on the Kent book's validity.

Hmmm I could just see how the book would read...

Marcus was feeling the pain of battle still attacking his weary bones. A hot shower is what I need thought Marcus. As he stripped and entered the shower block he felt the warmth caress his tired body. As he removed the towel from around his waist he noticed through the steam a familiar shape.

Yes it was Dom, his taut, masculine physique softened by the lather he had covered himself in. "Awww shit" cried Dom, "You couldn't pick that soap up for me"

... you know the rest

GitSome UK, That was a worrying read, either you're female, homosexual, or on the brink of falling right out of that closet.
Yes, I'm aware of the irony of someone with my name taking the piss out of someone's sexuality....

Well it could be to do with the fact that GoW is overwhelmingly camp.

I find it hilarious how some people can recognise that the plot is simple, and others seem to have serious trouble trying to understand what is going on in the game. Its like talking to that dumb friend after going to the cinema trying to connect the dots for them.

Wow, some people are stupid, though I guess I already knew that.

That Sons of Sera fan fiction sounds like it was written by a kid who used a thesaurus to improve his vocab. I used to write like that when I was 16. Anyway, nice attempt I guess. Couldn't be bothered to read all of it. I can never take a character called Charles seriously, let alone Norbert.
