Gears gears up for Live tourney
Macho excitement!
Whether you like to curb- or kerb-stomp your adversaries, the newly announced Gears of War 2007 Global Xbox Live Tournament ought to appeal. Thanks to a collaboration between Microsoft and the World Cyber Games, it could see you jetting off to Prague to do some all-expenses-paid stomping of the grand final variety, too.
First things first though: you'll need to scoot over to XboxLiveTournament.com and sign up, and then get yourself ready for four weeks of ranked-match play between 9th April and 6th May. 11 individuals with the highest scores in the world will then get a free trip for two to Prague this July to take on (or take down) the others.
That's four days and three nights in Czech Republic, with round-trip "coach" air transport for winner and guest, "standard hotel accommodations" and "basic ground transportation", not to mention a US$ 200 VISA gift card. Hold me!
But before that, the top four from each participating country will win a three-day, two-night trip to their nation's 2007 WCG National Championships, including hotels and 300 VISA gift-bucks. Don't worry if you miss out though, because other prizes on offer include an Xbox 360 premium system (in case you need two, obviously), Viva Piņata, Project Gotham Racing 3, Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1, Kameo: Elements of Power, 12 months of Xbox Live access and some Gears goodies including face plates.
Registration is open from now until 29th April, so what are you waiting for? A quote from CliffyB? "We are thrilled to offer the chance for gamers across the world to come together and share the glories of blowing apart someone into little chunks. May the best man, or Locust, win." Happy now?
