Gears 1 maps to be DLC for Gears 2
Buy the sequel and get them for free.
Epic plans to offer five multiplayer maps from Gears of War 1 as downloadable content for Gears of War 2.
Those buying the sequel will be given vouchers to unlock the five stages - Gridlock, Subway, Canals, Mansion, Tyro Station - for free, according to magazine GamePro (read by Evil Avatar).
If legitimate (we're checking), this should provide an adequate deterrent to buying pre-owned copies of the Xbox 360 shooter. Crafty.
The GamePro feature also noted that the photo editor, which allows corpses or spectators to press "B" and capture the action, will not be feature-complete at launch. This will be added to in time, and Epic plans to run monthly competition for the best stills.
Head over to our fresh-out-of-the-oven hands-on impressions with Gears of War 2 for much more information. Or perhaps you'd like to watch an exclusive video about the enemies in Gears of War 2, or enjoy Eurogamer TV interviewing probably our best friend Cliff Bleszinski.
No? Well there's always that Gears of War 2 competition to have a punt on: real-life COG tag and signed book star prize, you know.

If you sold your copy of 1 then you dont hold the licence to play those maps. This is supposed to be an incentive, so there needs to be a benefit that non owners can not access.

@Syproviper - what exactly is wrong with this?
Epic and MS do all the work in making the game, yet they will not get a single penny from any game that is sold 'pre-owned', so why should they not provide rewards for people who actually buy the game new? For a while after the games release, the pre-owned versions are not going to be much cheaper than buying it new anyway.
