GC: Two Worlds in September

We're keeping this one.

SouthPeak has confirmed that Two Worlds will be released for 360 and PC in the UK on 7th September.

The fantasy role-playing game was previously expected earlier in the year, but was pushed back to give developer Reality Pump more time to polish bits and pieces - like the fancy MMO-style multiplayer mode.

This will be a similar affair to what Hellgate: London is offering, aiming to keep you playing long after you've trounced the main story campaign. No monthly subscription has been linked with Two Worlds so far.

"We're overjoyed to confirm Two Worlds' release date for the UK. It's been a long time coming, but we think a game of this complexity and scope shouldn't be hastily rushed to market," said Melanie Mroz, executive suit at SouthPeak.

"We're making sure that Two Worlds has been exhaustively balanced and bug-tested, meaning that UK players will get the very best experience possible on September 7th."

We got our hands on the game in June and were pleasantly surprised; despite its superficial similarities Bethesda's behemoth Oblivion, underneath were some significant and clever new features.

Head over to our first impressions of Two Worlds to find out more.

I know someone who's played the review copy of this and says it's absolutely abysmal.

MMO-style multiplayer? How does that work?

Isn't this out on PC already?

Looks Ok, but if this doesn't score at least an 8, I won't bother with it.

Having tried the PC demo it'll need to be one hell of a lot better when it finally comes out to get me to get my wallet out.

My MAJOR interest in this is for the multiplayer co-op rather than anything else so I just hope that people review it fairly for that, relatively unique, feature rather than just slagging the single player or making irrelevant Oblivion comparisons ...

How is comparison to Oblivion irrelevant when reviewing a Fantasy RPG game?

I'm glad the Achievements are single player only.
    Pre-ordered.

I'll wait for a review. It looks decent and the multiplayers sounds fun, but I can't help being wary when it's been put back so many times..

.::: So basically... Continental Europe has been doing the bug-testing for them. Clever.

Wait on review as still suspect for me.

As far as I know this game is terrible, well that's what early public opinion tells us. I haven't heard anything good about it from our brothers across the pond.

Does this mean the UK version will be different to the US version as it's already released over in the US?
  • InternetRed #16 5 years ago

I'd like to see the reviews for it, but yes... this looks interesting. Diablo 2, updated, for the 360. I like that.

I've completed this on PC twice, and it's an excellent title.

The first time I played it was without the most modern patch and it had issues, but was still playable.

With the latest patch this game became most excellent, although PC wise you need a turbo nutter ninja bastid machine to run it.

It's Oblivion with massive bells and whistles added on, and a world map around 3 times bigger than Oblivion.

In order of "best-ness" of the last 3 RPGs of this type to be released I would say, starting with the least ( Oblivion )best to the best best ( G3):-

    3) Oblivion ( Best )
    2) Two Worlds ( Besterer )
    1) Gothic 3 ( Bestest )

Play them all as they are great sweeping RPGs of un-sympathetic size.

I don't think Two Worlds will be that good personally; has not received much hype (Usually good games get the attention!), got a luke warm reception from game journalist , not much is known about it and it's released next month.

For RPGs that will probably really live up to Oblivion or surpass it are: Mass Effect, Lost Oddysee, Cry-On, Fallout 3. Most coming in 2008.

You might want to try the excellent 'Bioshock' (My fav game at moment). It's fps but with many rpg elements in character build and decision/choices to be made - a story that grabs your attention. A rpg/actoin/adv/exploration at it's best (BE SURE TO PUT DIFFICULTY LEVEL ON HIGHER SETTING THEN GAME DEFAULT SETTING - THE GAME WILL BE MUCH MORE INVOLVING/CHALLENGING). Check the scores for this game.
