GC: Buzz PS3 unveiled News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

22 August, 2007

Sony has unveiled the next-generation of Buzz! quiz games in its Games Convention 2007 conference.

Dubbed Buzz! Quiz TV, its main attraction will be the integration of the PlayStation Network, effectively opening the game up to you lot, the community.

So, you'll be able to play people from all over the world rather than your slightly-too-clever flatmate, on your own, or in teams - just like on Family Fortunes.

The Network will also open up limitless content for you to download and expand your game with. We're told the closest comparison is to imagine the previous PS2 suite of games all rolled in to one gigantic offering, and you'll be able to break it up into themed-chunks or any way you like.

And when you get the point you feel you are the best and most knowledgeable person around, then you can write, upload, and share your own content. Yours and everyone else's questions will be available on community site MyBuzz, which will link directly to the game and by playable in the Buzz Studio area. You can do it all on your PC, too, before transferring it through your console.

What it all means is that the questions will never dry up, essentially meaning developer Relentless will never have to make another Buzz game to house new questions. Lazy! Oops, they'll get me. Better talk about next-generation graphics, lovely audio, new games, modes, better jokes from Buzz, high-definition Rose. And a new style wireless buzzer? No news just yet.

the one game best enjoyed with friends and family in the same room, Sony ironically decide to pull their multi player thumb outta their arse for.

I loved the competitiveness of the original Buzz, that and it was the only game I could play with my old man. lets hope lag doesn't ruin this.

If these are fireworks Sony, I'm disappointed. All I see is a single Roman Candle.

Dear trolls, please go and spank your monkey or do something productive.

I'm sick and tired watching each and every PS3 thread hijacked by idiots.

The PS3 is one of many consoles i own, and i can tell you that it's great.

Many good games like VF5, Motorstorm, RFOM, , Rainbow Six, Ninja Gaiden, Blast Factor, Tekken DR and more keep me more than happy. With Lair, Warhawk, Rachet and Clank, Assasin's Creed and more coming my way i will be occupied for a long time.
Low level? No, i don't think so.

I've just thought of the question I'm going to submit.

Quote: Personally I donīt give a sh#t about games like this though.

I thought that, then i played it. What a great game. Can't wait for online worldwide play and adding own questions.

As to the trolls, i always think "did you post this with your xbox?"

Thought not - oh the power :)

Egster, you're right .
Most of the times i don't take the bait, but the last days the trolling is unbearable. I don't want to "block" people because i believe in freedom of speech, but if this keeps up...

Because trolling only exists in the PS3 threads...

My question re: Buzz (because, hey, a thread about Buzz should maybe have discussion pertaining to the topic) is this: How will user submitted content be monitored? I want my questions to be correct and porn free (well, at least correct...)

I think this game looks great, and interesting that this offers the online element while Scene It does not. I'm hoping to get onto some Family vs Family action this chrimbo, should be most fun

@ Jayscott

I imagine (as usual) they will leave it up to the users to moderate, so for porn and swearing there will be text filters and a 'report this' button and for incorrect answers there will be a 'ratings' function meaning you should only play the quizzes with 4 stars and above...

Sounds like a good - though obviousy not fool (pardon the pun) proof - way to do it. The whole concept is very cool. That and the Rock Band/Singstar online options look really exciting.

Fantastic!! I absolutely love the Buzz series!
Now I will have the option to play online against my freinds and family when they can't make it around for a beer or two.
By far the best party games series on a Games console!

Hopefully this will bring an end to any other pointless Buzz! spin-off. The games are fun at family gatherings however. I may just invest ...
