GAME selling Mirror's Edge for £3
"Very limited stock." Hop to it.
GAME has decided to discount Mirror's Edge on Xbox 360 to a ludicrous £2.99.
This is a "Deal of the Day" and only has "very limited stock". Move quickly.
The game's hero Faith also moves quickly, as she runs across rooftops, launching herself into the air and ping-ponging herself up walls.
Mirror's Edge was released in autumn 2008 and impressed Eurogamer, earning 8/10. Had the story been better, so would the score, but there's an excellent Time Trial mode with floating archipelago levels that captures the pure free-running soul of the game.

The time trial mode is strangely addicitive, the campaign is good (if a little short) and everything just oozes style.
Not that it doesn't have it's faults but 3 quid? a no-brainer!

Why is it a shame to see a game like this selling so cheap? Surely that means that people that haven't already played it, might think that now is a good time to get it, and thus expanding the fanbase.

Frustrating game, stupid ending levels, stupid AI, arbitrary game overs, pushy pacing leading to unfair deaths because you can't find the bloody exist and there's no way you can make it through without dying a hundred a fourty five times per stage.
No V-synch-at-all and fast-paced action... facepalm! Getting stuck because of a stupid brick lying there for no reason.
Still likeable, somehow.
a likeable 3/10
EDIT: So, someone having a problem with me saying despite its obvious flaws, it's "still likeable". Maybe fans AND haters have a problem with my experience of it. Bought the game on day 1, HOUR one, they took it out of the truck and handed it out to me. 70€, never spent that much money on a game except FFX and Uncharted 2, ever. I was sold on the demo alone, which worked fine and wasn't too demanding, therefore not showing its all-too-precise, demanding gameplay. One feels entiteled to be difficult about a design BASED on frustration (or as one would put it "trial and error and trial and error and trial and error and youtube check and trial and error....."

Still PS3 gets free DLC and a free exclusive level. I think the DLC is 800 MSP on 360 but will have to check, either that or 400 iirc. This is a game I would so want to get a platinum trophy on, just have the speedruns and time trial stuff left. Bring on the next part, and hopefully more background on runners like what its like being one and the doing a job without cops.

99% sure I saw this for less than a fiver in at least 2 different stores last weekend.
In other news, FIFA 08 is 98p in Game second-hand, or for an extra £2 you can have FIFA 09.

That's exactly how I played it. I'd recoil in my sofa every time I fell off a building and crashed on the floor. The way all games should be played, really.

The time trials, however, don't do it for me. Both the arbitrary courses and the ones set in the proper story levels demand a ridiculous degree of precision, not to mention hours of practice to find shortcuts.
But story mode was great fun, and good grief, jumping puzzles in an FPS that weren't entirely hateful!
