GAME denies shipping MW2 early

"Doing everything we can" for Tues.

GAME has said that emails sent to customers claiming copies of Modern Warfare 2 have already shipped do not mean people will be receiving it before launch day, 10th November.

"I can confirm that the emails are part of the automated process," a spokesperson told Eurogamer today.

"The tracking numbers were provided as part of the process we have with our delivery partners to ensure that accurate delivery messages are given to customers at all times. We're doing everything we can to ensure that MW2 is with them in time for launch day."

Similar emails went out to HMV customers earlier in the week, leading the retailer to issue a similar denial, declaring: "HMV would never knowingly break a street date."

There are other reports of Modern Warfare 2 getting out into the wild via retail, however, and we're looking into those now. Can Activision stop the signal?

    Mine is sitting at the National parcel force hub has been for a few days despite a delivery estimate of yesterday. I guess Game can only do so much if Parcelforce accidently ship it what can they do?

    @Berbatov - Yeah I heard the same.

    @ARG - Well a dickie bird told me that the message about holding the parcels back didnt get through to everyone in the chain and so naturally some will have got through.... :)

    Are we actually pretending that game, play etc. are not breaking the street date for every game that comes out with their postal pre-orders and that this is news?

    A sensible post in an unsensible world.

    Don't people normally worry about reviews being embargo'd (spelling?) until after the release date? I thought it normally meant the publisher was trying to sell as much as possible for the reality dawned on the gaming public.

    This hype disgusts me.
    It's like X Factor when it comes to Christmas No 1 (albeit it slightly more justified).
    You can't stop it.
    I hate you, Activision.
    I'll hate you even more if you bring out an X Factor: Rock Band game.

    Of course they bloody shipped it early. How else can they guarantee it will arrive in time given our postal system! If Activision or Microsoft don't understand that then they're idiots!

    This article is just based upon happy customers thinking their MW2 has been sent, when its actually sat in the Parcelforce National Depot not moving until next week. Myns been there since Wednesday. I've checked track daily.

    Mine arrived this morning from a well-recommended online website that I haven't used before. And at by far and away the best pre-order price I've seen anywhere. Will certainly be using them again!

    Hey, i'm in Spain and i got an sms telling me that i can go to game and get my COD: MW2 whenever i want. The message is crystal clear: Your copy of COD:MW2 for PC is available at the shop you pre-ordered it. Pick it up!

    Am i going to mall and coming back with empty hands or am i getting my copy?

    I can't understand all the fuss about this game - the 1st was a good but nowhere near a brilliant or classic...Nothing COD 4 was spectacular. It just was a decent COD game...There's to much hype for this, and I bet the single player will be a decent but short game.

    There is better out there!

    yer it comes out wednesday i cant wait i played it at my friends house today i was so upset that people had it since i wanted to be in the top 100 on this cod as well but then i found out there a reset on tues .... the good thing is im in the u.s atm and there a holiday the next day like vertains day or somthin like that so i going to be playin no stop lol im sad like that

    Absolute bullshit GAME. My mate from when I was at school received his copy yesterday (07/11/09) and was playing it, so I don't how you can deny shipping them early...

    I had an E-mail on Friday saying that it had been dispatched, I checked the ParcelForce website and mine just said "Express 24". It still says that now. Not sure what it means though.
