Edit: Nice seeing that the go keeps going. People on the AoC forums almost kill the game for me with their complaints. All I know is that I am having alot of fun - and that is all that matters.

You've got to be kidding me. That game isn't steak. It isn't even close. It's short on quest content, and full of pretense... if anything, the damn thing's packed with Hamburger Helper. I closed my account, and I'm sending this undercooked game back to the kitchen. Check, please.

At least when you order a Happy Meal you get pretty much what you ordered in the bag, instead of a couple of cold fries and a letter saying the rest is still being cooked.

this game needs a year, im not paying to beta it out of its state to perfection, might come back when they get a handle on a bunch of stuff that needs attention.

The comment about the servers is really galling as on the 26th there was a major problem with ALL the servers that required them to be taken down eventually during peak time in europe.

Frankly, this game is rapidly becoming Anarchy Online 2.

Yes it sold well, there are a LOT of MMORPG players desperate for something new, anything and any game with boobies will attract a lot of punters. We shall see what happens in the next couple of months when peoples initial subscription start to run out and expansions for Lotro and WoW come out.

Yes, Lotro is McDonalds. You know exactly what you are going to get, a near perfected hamburger. AoC may well be a steak but it is one taken from a mad cow, crawling with maggots and magically half burned and half raw.

Sometimes company bosses should just keep their mouth shut when things are bad because anyone who plays this game will just see it for the bullshit it is.

Returning to WoW, I had more more fun in 10 minutes than in the month I played AoC. Dull, dull, dull, dull.... aaaaaand goodbye AoC.

Well now here's the funny thing, this comments section is full of people who 'like that type of thing' and 'gave it a try' and found it to be vaccuous, bug-ridden and devoid of any kind of community.

This is not WoW fanboyism (why the fuck is everything fanboyism on this goddamn website), this is holding a product up for its flaws. AoC is deeply flawed. There are far better alternatives.

I tried it, initially loved it, especially the way it looked. Then I started to realise thing like there was nothing to spend my cash on. The "aution house" is just a rubbish trader, the areas are small and instanced. Nothing at all like WOW. You've no idea of one areas relation to the next.

I actually went out and bought Vanguard for a fiver to see if that's improved. It has and it's brilliant IMO

Its impossible to believe in anything AOC staff says, especially this douchebag.
This game had a great sell number due to the huge international appeal Conan have, and some good premise displayed by the company. Unfortunatly, so far, not much has been given but an unfinished game with warped premises that make the game slip into the main stream of the MMO mass features.
The features are warped, the combat that seemed inovative is now nothing but a wow combat with arrows that must be pressed in order to complete your move, could as well been a dancing game where you step on arrows on the floor.
Its not even near a good interesting combat . Blocking who could have set the combat system above any other, who could have set combos as a mere personal option is nothing but a key press throwing a coin up 100% failure or 100% sucess. AWESOME FEATURE isn t it ?
Ha the Críticals !!! So beautifull so brought forwards, want the truth ? 1) They only work for humanoids, no critical for beasts not even a snake cut in half. And so far haven t seen more than 4 for all combat classes, 1 for bow/crossbow, 3 for the rest, and dont loose your time looking for the cutted head it simply vanish.
When you get higger lvl, armor and weapons start to slide to the ridiculous exactly as wow, not as much because wow propose itself cartoonish look. But its even more pathetic in AOC case, cause they propose themselves "realistic look", joke.
The game is riddled with unfinished features : Can t program mouse buttons, programed keyboard keys display USB name in the interface(GUY). Time and again you stop walking/running because of bad meshing, having to jump to get on. Most of the quests are linears quests that are pathetic, and if you still have a brain, it leave you wondering how such people get jobs. Beyond that, awfully heavy grinding beyond lvl 40. Totally funneled game, "do what we want or you out of play." You MUST be in a guild to craft (?!?!), and yes buggy unfinished crafting.
High dependance in gear to be competitive (i suppose conan loincloth was +3000% heroic protection +5000% normal protection and his earings where 100% magic disruptives.
Bar brawl is unexistent because there´s no reason to do it, or nor fun in it. Dificult social interaction, untought system.
Uncomplete Action house lacking categories or categories that doesn t bring any object, not even an auction system, as someone sayd: its just interplayer shop, with no discount.
AOC is right now paying this weave of incompetence and half truths, entire guilds quiting, people quitting before reaching half game (lvl40). And ghosts wandering around seeking what to do.
About the classes...Moronic decisions : Why can t a barbarian wear shields or use dagger ? Why cant an archer use 2 handed weapons ? Why can t a warrior use staves ? How can a mage use 2 handed weapons under such limitations ? How can a priest do quicker damage than a warrior ? and so on. As i sayd, more of the same of what you have. The game start interesting, but sadly, the veil fall quickly.
I for example am telling all i know to wait at least a year to see if this game is worth anything, and will be quiting as soon as my subscription end. And no, i m not coming back t any other MMO whatever, i'm waiting for some company to realise lauching more of the same isn t a solution anymore.

Not to say anything the world is beautifull and good to explore the way the dev want you to explore it. You star ta slave ingame, you are always a slave inside the game where you are ordered to go that way and do this this way.

I wanted desperately to like this game. That being said I was just not having fun and it seems like there is a huge content hole after 40. I will not be going back to WoW because I am burned out on that game. I might try back in about 6 months to see if it is any better but right now this game is a shit cake and no amount of frosting will hide that fact.

I had to laugh at Gaute's comments regarding Necromancers. Firstly he describes it as "loving" when in actual fact, overall they did the opposite. They provided some smallish buffs to some things, but completely destroyed the usefulness of the necro in most regards. I'm not surprised that he would call this "loving" though. Funcom managed to put a spin on many of the "nerfs" to the necromancer class so that they sounded positive and like a buff to anyone who didn't look into the specifics. Then to make matters worse, several nerfs were conveniently left out of the patch notes, perhaps the ones they had trouble putting in a positive light.

He says it has been patched and is all completed when in truth it hasn't even finished, was implemented in dribs and drabs and was done with such poor planning and thought that there was even a case of something being improved by around 20%, then less than a week later being reduced by 50%. That change must have been in planning for months. No one knows where their vision of the class is going, the community hasn't been given any details on this, most likely because the developers themselves have no idea.

Then finally to say it has been "fairly well received". Well that would be the case if "fairly well received" means the a huge portion of the necromancer players are up in arms, and most are finding the class to be much less enjoyable after Funcom's "loving", and now many are questioning Funcom's competency as a whole.

I know all I'm after from Funcom is a bit of honest communication of what's happening and where things are going, but it seems like that's a bit too much to ask for. I would suggest people avoid this game for now, perhaps in time it will get better, but I definitely have my doubts after the way Funcom has handled themselves in this period of time since the game has launched.

Hahahah.. "AoC is like steak and wine" This is for sure the joke of the month in the mmo genre(of the month because Gaute may say a funnier thing later).
Speaking in all reality tho, AoC is more like the piece of burnt meat that you tried to cook into a hamburger in your home but utterly failed, trash it and open a new pack.
This is my objective opinion, I am a MMO enthusiast and usually buy the games just to test them out. AoC failed.

Yes the game has problems but it also has very nice features and a lot of potential. Try it out for yourself, you might just like it, like so many of us do. Too bad theres just way too many wow-fanboys who have nothing else to do than bitch and whine. And yes I play wow too, actually paying for both atm. I actually thought the slogan was pretty spot on, on occasions I need a break from wow.

I cancelled my account last week. The big problem with AoC is it's simply punishing players whenever they play. Games are supposed to be rewarding and fun, but playing AoC felt like I'd slipped back in time and was travelling to Qeynos again...

I fired up the game, picked up a quest, went to try it and died. I then logged out.

Sorry but I have better things to do with my time.

I picked up LOTRO on a whim and am having a lot more FUN playing that.

Maybe if Funcom actually get their act together and stick in some content beyond the button-mashing, I might come back, as I'm a huge Conan fan, but until then, I'll get my MMO kicks elsewhere.
