Full Guitar Hero: Aerosmith tracklisting
The Clash, The Cult, Run D.M.C., more.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith's full track listing has been unveiled, and it's a bit more diverse than you might have expected. A bit.
Rather than trying to keep things pure by only including songs they recorded the band, whose greatest achievement is surely the birth of Liv Tyler, have included numbers from bands who've supported or worked with them closely in the past.
The 38 year rock veterans have dabbled in the world of gaming before, having appeared in 'Quest for Fame': an unsuccessful Guitar Hero forerunner for the PC and the excerable arcade title 'Revolution X'. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be the first game to try and give an overview of their rise to fame, and subsequent squatting atop the stadium rock pile, following them from tentative first performances at school functions to fully-fledged concerts in front of thousands.
A European release is currenlty set for for the 27th of July, with the U.S. following on the 29th and Australia on the 6th of August.

My resolve will be less strong should the Guitar Hero Metallica game be true. The last two minutes on the final song on the Load album - The Outlaw Torn? - has the greatest mega-riff of all time. Kirk Hammett is a guitar wielding god of metal. Like Thor but with suspect hair.

I like Queen but very few of their songs are suitable for guitar hero.
U speak true dsmx. A while back myself and a friend were compiling list of songs we'd like to see in Guitar Hero and after listening to all 3 CD's of Queen Greatest hits I found there were only 2 maybe 3 songs that might work. In the end I put One Vision on my list. As much as I love Queen too, I don't think think they could sustain a whole Guitar Hero game, not enough Guitar heavy tracks.
As for GH: Aerosmith, I can't say I've every been interested. I'm not an Aerosmith fan and the Aerosmith songs on GH2 & GH3 are amongst my least played. The non-Aerosmith tracks on this game also look pretty poor as well. I'm also very surprised to see Walk This Way in the bonus section, I'd have thought it'd be in the main set list being one of there most well known songs.
GH: Rolling Stones, GH: Clash, GH: Cream; now they would rock!
Or how about a little GH: Slade

Gregor MacKintosh is guitar god, imgine rocking out to Embers Fire, Hallowed Land, Mercy etc.
Aah, so good that I going to listen to it right now.

Still this game looks. err. rubbish.

She's rubbish (and not that attractive either unless you really go for whiny crying women).
Surely you not seen One night at McCools then!

The lesser presence of Load, Re-Load and St. Anger, the better for Guitar Hero: Metallica, in my opinion. Which is why I expect to be disappointed with GH:M tracklist...

You might want to try going beyond their Greatest Hits - there's obviously a few on there, but they didn't really release a lot of the guitar heavy stuff on single. I'm far from a big Queen fan, but they'd make an interesting version of GH - Fat Bottomed Girls, Sweet Lady, Brighton Rock....it'd be great!
In terms of Aerosmith - I really can't see the problem....there's some great tracks on there, just the fact that 'Sweet Emotion', 'Hard to Handle' and 'She Sells Sanctuary' are on there has me sold.
Mind you, I've seen one forum poster respond to this with something like 'Aerosmith? WTF? - why couldn't they make GH: Jet?' - ermmm, pretty easy that one...they don't sell many records.

Those same albums today sound tinny and flabby and ever so slightly ridiculous.
Music does not age gracefully. And neither, sadly, do I.
Oh well. Bugger.
JohnnyBrn - Paradise Lost are superb. I agree.

Oh come on, just off those three discs I can think of:
Killer Queen (already been in GH granted), Fat Bottomed Girls, Don't Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Now I'm here, Play The Game (stunning guitar work in that song), Seven Seas of Rhye, We Will Rock You (bonus track), A Kind Of Magic, I Want It All (album version for preference), Innuendo, Breakthru, Headlong, Hammer to Fall, The Show Must Go On, One Vision, Driven By You, Princess Of The Universe
That's 18 tracks just off the greatest hits. Add in stuff like Tie Your Mother Down, the fast version of Rock You, Brighton Rock, The Hitman, Gimme The Prize, I'm in love wth my car, Death On Two Legs, Let Me Entertain You, Sheer Heart Attack, The Prophet's Song, Keep Yourself Alive and the Battle Theme from Flash Gordon and you'd be up to 30 without any problems whatsoever.
Then you've got the solo stuff (some of Brian May's work is, as you'd expect, perfect for Guitar Hero) and if even that's not enough, now they're touring with Paul Rodgers, you've got Free, Bad Company and The Firm tracks, some of which you could even have the Queen versions of from the last tour (or a specific re-record). Plus whatever's on the new album that's coming out in September. Have to be at least 40, more likely 50 tracks of material directly related to Queen available that'd be suitable for GH. And if you're going to look at bands that were an influence / have been influenced by them as has been done for this Aerosmith release forget about it.
And looking through that list I realise I've not put Stone Cold Crazy, a track quick enough to be covered by Metallica on a regular basis.... And there, really, is the point. No, there aren't that many thrash metal tracks in their catalogue but the range of styles available would more than make up for it. Ironically it could be the best balanced track list since GH1 for the average gamer, although granted there may not be as much for the hardcore rythym gamer.
Phew, sorry, didn't mean for that to be so long...

And I'm pretty sure they said there was going to be a White Stripes song in there, and there isn't.

That's the original version, the Run DMC remix is in the main setlist (Tier 4: "International Superstars" (Moscow)"

For me, anything Metallica offered up to and including their Black album is substantially better than their later studio albums. More creative, moving, influential, powerful, definitely "shock and awe" as you'd agree.
I wouldn't let their "tinny and flabby" production tell me otherwise, but your mileage may vary
EDIT: I spend too long writing my comment that farticusmaximus beat me to it (although I *do* love their Black album as well, no matter what Bob Rock did to them), but my point still stands.

Some song that come into my mind, in an almost chronological order:
Modern Times Rock'N'Roll
Brighton Rock
Killer Queen
Now I'm Here
Stone Cold Crazy (*)
Death On Two Legs
Sheer Heart Attack
It's Late (*)
Tie Your Mother Down
Bicycle Race
Tear it Up
Hammer to Fall
Gimme The Prize
Princes Of The Universe (*)
I Want It All (*)
Breakthru
Chinese Torture
(*) songs, btw, would be really awesome.
Some other interesting tracks: Love Of My Life (live version would make for a nice diversion), God Save the Queen (perfect for a credit screen or something), Fat Bottomed Girls, I Was Born To Love You.
Even some Brian May songs, like Driven By You or Last Horizon may be used.
Not the best group for a GH game all in all, but not bad either, really.

Will still be good though. Getting bored of GH3's tracks now. Oh, and a Queen one would be very good

Shame it is only one track - but a fine track indeed.
Their most recent album Born into This would make excellent DLC on either RB or GHIII. A truly fantastic CD.

Nice to see a Paradise Lost fan on here - Gregor Mackintosh is indeed an underrated guitarist of the highest order.
On a different note, why the hell haven't The Cult appeared in GH or Rock Band before now?

You can eve unlock RUN from RUN DMC to do walk this way with you. And there are also two versions of walk this way. THe RUN DMC version is on the set list and the version without DMC is unlockable. Why they didn't just make all this DLC is a joke.
There is also a battle with Joe Perry which is unlockable too as a song.
