Full GH: Metallica track-list revealed News

PlayStation 2 Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

26 January, 2009

Heavy metal band Metallica has unveiled the full track list for Guitar Hero: Metallica. And they should know.

Of the songs, 27 will be by the titular rockers, with a further 20 by bands that Metallica "admire and even call friends", according to the group's website.

Furthermore, those who downloaded new album Death Magnetic back in September will be able to play the 10 tracks during the full game mode.

And, as the album is unavailable to download on PS2 and Wii, those versions of GH: Metallica will add "Broken Beat & Scarred," "Cyanide" and "My Apocalypse" to the line-up.

Guitar Hero: Metallica will be out across the US from 29th March. Europe will get the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and PS2 spin-off sometime during May.

The full track-listing follows:

To me, that's possibly the best tracklist of ANY Guitar Hero game.

This track list turned out a lot better than I was expecting, some really great songs in there, both from Metallica and the guests.

Although I'm a Rock Band convert, I really think I could be returning to Guitar Hero for this one! My girlfriend might not like it so much, but it will be a good one for when the guys come over to play!

I've heard that the drums for this have two bass pedals? Anyone know if this is true?

@jamie_fear:

I believe that Gamestop in the US is doing a pre-order bonus of a 2nd bass pedal.

I'm not a massive Metallica fan, but I'll probably buy the game just because it'll be difficult enough to put up a challenge, unlike World Tour and both Rock Bands.

The option is there for expert PLUS or something you've still got all the normal difficulty levels plus an extra one for loonies if you own two kits.

I'm impressed you've already mastered all the songs on Expert drums (you can't really talk about "challenge" with the guitar peripheral).

Argh. Great tracklist, from the looks of the trailer they've really nailed Metallica's on-stage performance as well, but two major problems for me:

1) After GH:WT and RB2 that seems a very small number of tracks for what is probably going to be a full price release. Doubly so when you look at the Metallica catalogue and realise how much else could have been put on there. Even with the DLC for Death Magnetic included it still feels light.

2) I'm sorry but I just don't like GH's charting since Harmonix left the series. GH3 was so bad I never bothered getting past hard, it was a chore rather than fun. GH:WT is a bit better from the little I've played but it's still not... not right somehow. It's bad enough when playing on your own but as soon as you get some friends over who aren't that experienced at these sorts of games it becomes obvious VERY quickly. Why oh why couldn't this have been part of the Rock Band series...

Maybe one to pick up in a sale somehwere I guess.

Quite a decent list to be honest, Creeping Death, Seek And Destroy, Master Of Puppets, Whiplash, One, Disposable Heroes, Battery... I can't find too much to moan about with what we're getting, although there's always gonna be others I wish were on there, The Four Horsemen, Motorbreath, etc, but overall I'm not complaining. Having my hopes answered with the inclusion of Am I Evil? was good, and getting Blood And Thunder was an unexpected bonus.
The only irritating thing is the inclusion of Frantic.

Please excuse my thickness, hard day at work.
Is this for the full guitars, vocals, drums set up. Or just guitar?
If its the band one, can I use my Rockband 1 kit?
It would be for ps3

Oh god so happy, all i asked for when i saw the partial track list was sanitarium and Orion and got both. The other day i was in my car listening to toxicity wishing i could play the drums to it and now i can. Now i just need to let my wrist recover from drumming before this comes out!
