Fresh GRAW2 content in Nov News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

18 October, 2007

Ubisoft will be air-lifting new co-operative content for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 onto Xbox Live next month.

It will let you and your friends talk like army people as you tackle five new missions, before falling out and using the maps as battlegrounds to kill each other on.

There are the Caves, Railroad Bridge, Battlefield and Castle areas from Ghost Recon; Plantation, Swamp Airfield, and Prison from Ghost Recon: Island Thunder; and brand new maps Business Park, featuring open courtyards with overlooking balconies, and Rooftop, where you will fight on top of a skyscraper.

Along with the new content comes nine new Achievements for the game, adding up to a not-to-be-sniffed-at 125 Gamerpoints.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 was released on 360 earlier this year, and proved to be a better, if very similar, game than the first.

classic maps that rock, none of that crappy GRAW 1 maps with new lighting rubbish. GR1 and island thunder were the best in the series...shame they were so damned ugly!

Was going to sell this, but may hold off.

Of course, I doubt it'd be free content =(

If it's Ubisoft it'll cost no less than 1200 MP and it wouldn't surprise me if it they tried to sell it at 2400 MP.

They charged for it and then it became free over time.

It's interesting. I have no actual factual basis for this, but it feels like they are being quite generous with the content for GAW2 because the game didn't sell as well.

@IAmBatman - Only because it was stuff included in the recent PS3 version. Ubisoft did make the initial mistake of charging 800 MP for it before they realised it was in violation of Microsoft's policy, which states that content that is available on another format for free or as part of the game, has to be free on Xbox Live. This new content is *new* stuff that the PS3 game doesn't have I believe so they *will* charge for it, don't kid yourself.

Ah fair enough, I didn't own the game when the content first came out, by the time I got a copy both of the extra map packs were gratis.

Surely if that was true then Knights of Nine for Oblivion would have violated the rules as well, as that was in the PS3 game from the off?

Ah but Knights of the Nine came out on the 360 and PC months *before* the PS3 version, likely before that version was confirmed and certainly before its content was decided on! ;)

The Shivering Isles was the expansion which was released just prior to the PS3 version of Oblivion coming out. I suspect one of the reasons for its omission from the PS3 version was so it could be sold at a price on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

quite weird. was just saying durign agame of PGR4 about playing this again.
though i've done the co-op missions new ones will be nice.. if free or 400 points or so.
trouble is a few people have probably got rid of this great game now because of the network issues in multiplayer games...
shame really.

@ Darren:

I very much doubt that it was a mistake on Ubi's part, as like you say, it came out first on the 360, then when it was released on the PS3, it would have been made free.

Trust you to be the drama queen and make a mountain out of a mole hill, something out of nothing etc...
