Free Realms for PS3 in mid-2010
May support Eye. 5 million play PC.
Addressing the Austin Game Developers Conference yesterday, Sony Online Entertainment boss John Smedley said that the PS3 version of its successful casual MMO Free Realms would be released in 2010.
Asked by a member of the audience when to expect the port, he said, "I'm wondering, too!" then added, "It's next year sometime, toward the middle of the year," according to Joystiq.
He also confirmed that the PC version of Free Realms has reached 5 million registered players, reports Massively.
2010 will mark the long-awaited arrival of SOE MMOs on PS3 after the company's integration with Sony's PlayStation arm. DC Universe Online and The Agency are both expected next year, too.
Free Realms has just launched the first expansion set for its trading card game, Shattered Past. Since launch in spring this year, it's also been updated with a fully-fleshed kart racing mode.
