Lemonade Tycoon free for iPhone News

iPhone News by Robert Purchese

15 April, 2009

EA is offering a free splash of Lemonade Tycoon to iPhone and iPod Touch owners.

The game costs nothing to download because the publisher is using "tastefully integrated sponsor messages", according to TouchArcade.

Lemonade Tycoon challenges players to establish a profitable Lemonade business by experimenting with recipes as well as managing inventory, marketing, pricing, location and even the climate. It's what lead to The Apprentice, probably.

There's a career mode and 30-day challenge to keep you occupied, and you can squeeze Lemonade Tycoon now from the App Store.

Played this many years ago on my Pocket PC PDAs. A fun, if a little shallow, game.

I'd guess this is a play on the entirely American practice of having kids sell lemonade from stands outside of their houses to teach them capitalism at a young age (where lemonade is something entirely different to what you get in the UK, being actually made of lemons). So not some sort of Schwepps vs R. Whites cage match.

Never realised how much I hate in game advertising until now. I was all set to download this and then thought "Hell no I am not going to be advertised at against my will!"

Couldn't bring myself to download this after that.

What a load of sanctimonious tripe. How often do you give consent to be advertised to? Is it against your will to be 'advertised at' every single time you visit EG? You're not one of those hopelessly naive people that believes they're not affected by advertising and marketing, are you? Do you attend ad-rape counselling?

This game is addictive as all hell. The ads are easily dealt with. A friend of mine said it wasn't available either so maybe I lucked out, but hey, the price is right. I remember the PPC version to but I seem to remember they charged for that so I never bothered with the full version?

"Not currently available in the UK" according to the app store. Would be easy for EG to mention this sort of thing rather than just posting a press release from EA as "news".
