Free Exit DS demo now available News

DS News by Ellie Gibson

21 January, 2008

A new demo for DS puzzler Exit has appeared on the game's official website.

Instead of a stylus, as you'll use in the finished game, you use a mouse to guide the game's heroes through a series of hazards.

Exit was first released for PSP nearly two years ago. It's really rather good, according to our reviewer.

There's an Xbox Live Arcade version too, which is also pretty good.

Exit DS is out in Japan this month, but there's no word on a European release as yet.

Exit is still one of the best PSP titles available IMO (if you like puzzle platformer types that is).

You can probably pick it up for a bargain these days, and you get a huge amount of downloadable content too.
Not sure what Exit 2 is like, but probably of similar merit.

That flash demo is horrible. Once you've figured out the puzzle, just moving around the simple level to complete is is really tedious.

This is what bothered me in the XBLA demo as well. Movement is clunky and slow, there is no way to stylishly jump from one end to another, jump on a ladder or simply run. Generally that is not really a problem but when you start the more difficult puzzles over and over again it would be nice if you could rush through the earlier parts of the puzzle which don't pose a challenge anymore anyway if you know what you have to do. This makes the game quite boring and tiring after a while, because you spend minutes doing the same thing over and over again just to try another solution later on in the same level.

I know this happens in a lot of puzzle games (doing things over and over until you reach the point in the level where you struggle) but there aren't a lot of puzzle games where this is as tedious as it is in Exit.

Same here. I'm pretty sure this demo convincede me not to buy this game. Not that I would have otherwise. Never heard of it before...
