Free DLC for Valkyria Chronicles II

Get it if you pre-order.

SEGA has announced that it will release exclusive add-on missions for Valkyria Chronicles II as an incentive for pre-ordering the strategy RPG.

The missions will be available as a free PSN download when the game is released for PSP on 3rd September in Europe.

There missions take the form of exercises against two rival classes, one requiring you to destroy all enemies, the other to take over an encampment. The SEGA blog has the details.

Valkyria Chronicles II is the sequel to the excellent PS3 original. It adds co-op and competitive multiplayer to the mix of turn-based strategy, teen soap opera, levelling and baroque, fantasy First World War fashions.

Will they be offering pre order on PSN as its a bit hard to pre order it for the GO otherwise. Other games have been available for pre order on PSN but not for PSP but its still probably possible.

I loved the first one and am glad there's a sequal but WHY OH WHY on the PSP only??
What a terrible thing to do to a new IP.
And it means I'll have to try and find my PSP charger again. . .

Allegedly, it was put on PSP so it could have a quicker development cycle, and they could get it out quickly whilst the anime series was still fresh in peoples' minds.

Hmmm. Well I loved the first one as well, and would have preferred to see this one on the PS3 also, but right now I'm more concerned with what seems to be inferior "high-school anime" style art-work and character designs for the new one. Yes, some of the characters in the first one were ditzy, but not all of them.

Oh well, all to sway fickle sixteen year olds I guess.

I was wondering that too. Providing a pre-order bonus like this would make it seem like Sony are acknowledging the PSP Go, so they probably won't.

Otherwise I'm quite interested to see this on PSP. I've not yet got a PS3 but I've seen the first one in action at a friend's house. I tend to prefer turn based games like that on PSP as they sit quite well being played on public transport. Also with a PSP it's easier to take breaks by putting the console to sleep, or pausing the game with a Go. Makes taking a few turns to fill a few minutes a much easier prospect when you don't have to load the game each time.

There's an Anime series? I'll have to download that by some dubious legal method.
