Forza 2 website re-launches

Car porn alert.

Microsoft's Forza PR machine cranked into overdrive this week, with the launch of a revamped official website.

The site's latest update leads with a gigantic list of the European production cars that will make it into the game, from manufacturers including Audi, Bentley, Aston Martin, McLaren, Koenigsegg, Lotus, and TVR. Go see.

Elsewhere on the site, you'll be able to log in with your Xbox Live Gamertag and "check out a personalized homepage summarizing your online racing statistics, auctions, and tournaments."

Not only that you'll be able to "view and download pictures you've taken within FM2's Photo Mode and share them with friends in our forums or create your own wallpapers", "browse the Forza Motorsport 2 online auction house for an amazing array of customized cars put up for and by the community. Plus, keep tabs on the cars you're currently auctioning and bidding on."

The site also boasts a tournament section, scoreboard, news updates, a blog section from developer Turn 10, and, of course the forums.

We're hoping to get a hands-on with a feature-complete preview build soon. Check back for all the latest on this essential-looking driving title - or you'll have Tom to answer to.

not related, but why when selling games on ebay do people show a picture with the disc face down?... I'm never gonna buy that! lol makes me laugh when they say mint condition...........apart from the grease and scratches picked up from the table. lol
  • ChrisBen #5 5 years ago

I'm liking this emphasis on taking the game beyond the game so to speak, and linking it to the web. I think a really strong and vibrant comunity will result from this initiative.
  • Stormflood #6 5 years ago

I show the disc face down, but I prop them up on the edge of the game case.
  • glaeken #7 5 years ago

I show the disk face down but then I have a special surgical steel operating table in my front room for the very purpose of taking photographs of CD's face down.

WHY IS THERE NO VEYRON ON THAT LIST?!?!
  • LOLLERS #11 5 years ago

sounds interesting, some good features. I hope they all work properly, unlike PGR3's photo mode! Tournaments sound good.

  • dadrester #12 5 years ago

i really like the idea of a fake ebay style auction system... very interesting.
  • GreasyWeasel #13 5 years ago

Is the Veyron classed as a production car?
  • glaeken #14 5 years ago

They also don't let people do much track testing of the Veyron so its handling charactristics are little unknown.

Top Gear have been trying to test one on their timed track test and VW won't let them have one for that.

Be good to have a X360 driving game where races are peculiarly akin to those in the real world - i.e.
    (a) all cars headed in same direction (unless of course you're racing an American)
    (b) smashing in to other cars is not mandatory or even a nice little sideline
    (c) you race on strangely enough racing circuits rather than pavement wide, shadow infested 'real' roads.

Weird that its taken 18 months for developers to release the first of its type on the old box.

Slightly worried about the list. No M5 or M6. as has already been said No Buggati Veyron, No Zonda F, No Koenigsegg CCR and CCX, No baby (V8) Aston, i could go on. i understand they could make them DLC but thats just cheeky :(
  • Peew971 #17 5 years ago

"browse the Forza Motorsport 2 online auction house for an amazing array of customized cars put up for and by the community."

    That's Awesome!
  • Zomoniac #18 5 years ago

What were the odds that they could have a car list that would include EVERY car you could think of?

I wasn't expecting a GT4 list, but a lot of the 'standards' like the Koenigseggs, M5/6 and V8 not being there is a tad surprising.
  • chronom4n #19 5 years ago

I predict quite a lot of DLC with regards to more and more cars becoming available.

And, as for the Veyron, I think it has to do with cost. Maybe, Bugatti were asking too much money from MS. But, the shape has got me thinking, with the amount of curves on the Veyron, would be pretty difficult to model really accurately and make it look stunning at the same time so as to make your jaw drop.

I just hope the graphics engine is being re-hauled and the replays are light years away from the god awful replays that plagued the first one and that telemetry feature from FM1, lets say you are trying to enjoy your replay(s), the second that any button is pressed the stupid game goes into letterbox mode and starts to show you your telemetry. Really got me riled up that did.
  • SomaticSense #20 5 years ago

Two Lotus Exige's, but no M5?

The European car list is better than I thought it would be (the Astra VXR i wasn't expecting to be included), but I still feel it should be much better as they're missing quite a few model for licences they already have. Car list looks like it may fall short again, like the first one.

I just hope you are actually able to modify the appearance of some of the higher end cars this time, and not just be limited to the Golf/Jetta mod or the Jap cars.
  • LOLLERS #21 5 years ago

"Veyron blah blah would be pretty difficult to model really accurately and make it look stunning blah

I just hope the graphics engine is being re-hauled and the replays blah blah telemetry feature..."

    NO.
  • chronom4n #22 5 years ago

@lollers, so what do you think if i am wrong? i want to hear why you think the veyron has not been included.
  • fawe3 #23 5 years ago

Wow a news about webpage opening, thats a new one.
  • Calgon #24 5 years ago

chronom4n: The dev team are perfectionists?(if its worth doing get it spot on right as far as looks and handling are concerened... they are masters of both) Since the manufacturer wont let anyone near it they would just be paying for the name alone if they were even aloud to use it(wastefull IMO... money can be better spent elsewhere to improve the game engine or featurelist ect).

Would anyone like to tell me if the engine is a 360 engine(from the ground up)? I thought I read something about sharing the same engine as PGR3(great idea since these are two of the most talentend devs for racers, sharing resources like that might show stunning results) which is smart but for the fact that the engine was started before Bizzare got their first 360 dev kit. I suppose even if you rebuild it, its better than starting from scratch... which is hopefully what theyve done. The reason I care is because it would be nice to see as many 360 specific game engines as possible, as great as UE3 and other crossplatform engines are theres a big difference between "optimised for" and "built/created for". Xbox never had many but its architecture was very PC like... even the components, 360 is more of a true console(custom hardware, more differences in architecture) so hopefully future 360 games will have more of a unique look to them.

Re: missing, what about the Ariel Atom? Ohhh the thought of ripping that ride 'round the Ring... emm. Bet GT5 includes it, whenever its release might occur.
  • AtomicBanana #26 5 years ago

Yeah, and if you go off track it'll look awesome when it bounces off the wall like a cheap bumper car :p
  • icelt #27 5 years ago

The skilled never go off track sir. Well, mostly never. And you do admit it will look cool ;) It's probably been mentioned before, but GT2 did introduce console sim racing/driving to damage modeling. So it's more than just wishful thinking that PD will include it in GT5.

Anyhoo, not trying to highjack here... F2 does look and sound promising.
  • cyber_nicco #28 5 years ago

    @chronom4n

You have to select a particular button to bring up the telemetry in in replay mode. If you have moved the cursor to that button, then it will be selected if you click a button (well, I thought it was only the "A" button).

I know this because I have been playing Forza 1 for about 4 hours a day the last 3 or 4 days... :p
  • Kostabi #29 5 years ago

Just had a look at the Forza 2 website and I'm suitably impressed. If it's anything like Live For Speeds spangly online side for tracking lap times, wins, etc then it'll be a very good thing indeed.
