Forza 2 dated by retail

But MS says no comment.

Retail sources claim that Forza Motorsport 2 will be racing into shops and sitting quietly on the shelf until you pick it up, go over to the till and give the funny man some money on 8th June in Europe.

But contrary to reports that's not what Microsoft UK is saying, with a spokesperson for the platform holder unable to confirm the date to Eurogamer this afternoon. The most recent official release estimate for the game is 25th May, but it looks to have moved beyond that.

The racing opus - the second, following the series' debut on Xbox, from Microsoft's internal Turn 10 studio - will feature some 310 cars, fully modifiable, a vast range of tracks and a heavy emphasis on realism.

It's been in the cooker for a while, mind, having first been announced at E3 last May with a Christmas release date in mind. Indeed, it was much to the chagrin of the Xbox 360 Wireless Steering Wheel that it didn't hit that date - the poor little, brilliantly made bugger's been sitting around for months waiting for its flagship game.

As have we. Sort of. We've been hanging around on Internet shops, anyway. And with the likes of Amazon and Play.com acknowledging the 8th June date when we checked, that's where you can go to lay down some preparatory readies.

We'll let you know as and when the date is officially confirmed - and look out more on Forza 2 closer to launch.

    MS UK PR suck donkey droppings so it's hardly surprising they can neither confirm or deny.

    They'll have to wait till the yanks get out of bed and send them the fax that authorises them to give a press release.

    8th June is the correct date or I'll eat Bramwell's cat.

    Play & Amazon have "Forza Motorsport 2 (Limited Edition)" - anyone know what the limited edition aspect of it is?
  • Santino #7 5 years ago

    that brilliantly made steering wheel is overpriced garbage compared to other wheels like the DFP which is cheaper and beats it in performance in every way. but enough about that, the game looks awesome from the latest video i just wish they provided support for 3rd party wheels as i wont be buying another wheel specifically for one game.

    Wasn't there supposed to be a demo this month? There's not that many days of it left now.
  • Scurrminator #12 5 years ago

    i think the cars are in all versions of the game, just that people who buy the limited edition download a patch that unlocks them :p
  • busboy33 #13 5 years ago

    @toothball:
    the tenor of conversation at the developer website ([link url=http://www.forzamotorsport.net)]http://www.forzamotor sport.net)[/link] seems to say that the demo will be out 1-2 weeks before the retail copy, which puts it middle-end of May, which is poo. On the plus side, the delay seems to be related to the demo being essentially the retail copy -- its not supposed to be a "work in progress" type of thing, so when the demo is done so is the game.

    @Fruit_Salad:
    God, I hope you are wrong. I'm praying for "super spit-and-polish" rather than problem.

    btw, you may want to check out the web site for a sense of what the online portion of the game will hold. You can upload photos of your cars and races straight from the 360, use the eBay-esque auction feture, access your entire racing history, search/establish tournaments and so on. If the last game is any indication, there will be tuning forums and videos, paintjob seminars, etc. Outside of MMOs, this may be the deepest level of community development I've ever seen for a game, and Turn 10 (The Developers) seem to be putting alot of ffort into maintaining it.
    Yes, I have a bit of a Forza jones, so I may well be wearing rose colored glasses on this one.

    Well, one argument in favour of the DFP is that the DFP has a gearstick. In my experience when playing in manual transmission, having the gearstick on the side does one of a number of things. 1 - it alleviates the cramping that happens when you are using just the paddle shifting. plus i have got the hang of steering and shifting up and down with one hand using the combination of gearstick and paddle shifting. I just hope that T10 allow third party wheels to be used as i can't really afford to be buying a steering wheel just for that game. Also i read that the date was supposed to be the 25th of may. glad that they have delayed the release date. gives me some more time to save up some monies.

    @busboy33

    Cheers for that. I'd not seen anything about it for ages.

    When we get one of those Forza 2 has gone GOLD, we can expect it's imminent release, until then stop talking BS Eurogamer!!
  • busboy33 #17 5 years ago

    additional btw:
    there's a replay video that hit the net a few days ago, 720p. If you haven't seen it, consider a look. All of the graphical bell and whistles aren't fully implemented yet (at least I hope so -- the graphics aren't THAT much better than Forza1) but the frame rate is locked at 60fps, and it runs like melted butter!!
  • bonker #18 5 years ago

    At the risk of talking outta my arse, cos I haven't seen Forza 1, if this doesn't look leaps and bounds better than it then that'll be a very bad thing. This is a AAA 360 exclusive and it NEEDS to excel in pretty much every department ...
  • Daithi #19 5 years ago

    @ WaxBrazillian
    It's 10 environments I believe, not 10 tracks.

    @ busboy33
    That video is of a replay, they run at 30fps, ingame is 60 however.

    @ chronom4n
    Che has said they're in talks with Logitech (??I think) about getting the DFP to work, no resolution yet though.
  • busboy33 #20 5 years ago

    @Daithi:
    that was 30? Forza1 was 30fps (I thought) and the replay video ran significantly smoother than that. Mabye I'm just projecting my Forzalust.
    My main concern is the jaggies in the video, but I have faith they'll smooth it some more.
  • The-Bodybuilder #21 5 years ago

    busboy, just goes to show that the 30fps thing this gen is not so significant thanks to all that blur effects n such.
  • SomaticSense #22 5 years ago

    Fucking hell MS, make your bloody mind up on the date, and announce the damn thing for crying out loud!!!

    When the fuck shall I take my week off? I've got to let them know by the end of April for fucks sake!!!!!!!
  • eurocloak #23 5 years ago

    "As have we. Sort of" ??????
