Dates and "revolutionary" new features.

Sports Interactive has promised to unveil release dates for Football Manager 2009 on PC and PSP this evening.

The announcements will be made on the Sports Interactive YouTube channel, alongside videos showing off flashy new features that aim to revitalise the series.

"Video is definitely the best way for us to be announcing the key new features for the games, and YouTube is the best place to do that," said Miles Jacobson, coach of Sports Interactive.

"We hope to surprise our fans with some revolutionary new features, alongside some evolution of areas from our previous games."

Remember: Sports Interactive already has a Football Manager MMO in testing, so that's off the cards. Time for a spot of speculation.

Well since they seem to take about 3 games to get right any major change (ie the 2d engine), if its a 3d one I reckon it will work properly sometime around 2012.

I'm more interested in EA's management game these days, which is is starting from the visual end and adding more depth each year. I've always felt SI are a bit slow to adapt.

I don't reckon there'll be a 3D match engine. I seem to remember SI saying they'd never go 3D back when they brought in the 2D one. And now, back to playing the FMLive beta...

Yeah, SI have always said they could never do a 3D engine justice, so I do hope it doesn't turn out to be that. In fact ANYTHING but that, to be honest.

Interesting that both FM and Championship Manager are 3D this year. After all them years I spent arguing for 3D matches ... and getting aggressively pishshawed. Just hope, as was said above, this won't mean three years before the thing actually works properly, a la previous game changes, cause it certainly appears to be good from the videos. Like the use of Widgets too, good idea that.
