FM 2008 demo out now

Fiddle your own tills.

Sports Interactive has released a demo for the latest instalment of Football Manager 2008.

Well, two, actually: a dumpy "strawberry" version with all the Euro leagues and logos, or a trimmed "vanilla" offering focused on the UK.

This year Football Manager will be available all around the world and boasts many more tactical bits and pieces to get stuck into.

You can keep up to date with all of these over on the official website, where Sports Interactive boss Miles Jacobson will be writing weekly blogs to cover the new features.

Or you can always pop into our Football Manager 2008 gamepage to see what we thought when we had a play on it recently.

Football Manager 2008 is due for release later this year, although publisher SEGA has yet to say exactly when.

"I confess my lap top stinks."

Just to be on the safe side, DON'T tell us what you spilt on it.

Hmmm...demo comes with an installer called "InstallAnywhere", but only lets you install on your C:/ drive...well done mates.

Can't be bothered to play this though, have spent too much time and money already on this series, and the progression this year is minimal.

Huzzah! Though I'll wait for Mr Postman to bring me the full version I think... if he's not on bloody strike!

Only on C drive? That rules me out of the demo. I hate installers that do that: I use C drive for windows only, so not much spare space on it. It means I never tried Eve despite the full trial: and I couldn't install Pro Evo 2007 demo too because of where it uncompressed things.

Hmmm, I'm another that never installs anything on the C drive - it definitely gives no other option? Weird.

    Most interesting...

    I'm on a mac, so i don't actually have a C drive to corrupt....

I'm prob gonna give the Vanilla a go because im not interested in Europe, and to see what the improvements are like.

Nope, it smugly skips the options to change the installation path, even though they're clearly there...

Yep, wasn't impressed at all that I had to install on my C drive *grr*

Most useful changes that I noticed were the ability to watch the game and make subs without having to pause the game, and being able to juggle the transfer/wage budget. Oh, and the transfer centre is good too.

On the minus side, red cards need to be toned down in the friendlies! Three red cards (two for me, one for my opposition) in four friendlies. Ridiculous. I was even playing a mixture of normal/easy tackling too.

Miles, if you're reading this - keep up the blogs, they're great. I'm enjoying reading them on my BlackBerry whilst sitting on the throne at work, so you'll still have at least one reader even though the demo's been released!

There's very little point in downloading this - it usually takes a good few patches to make the thing playable anyway.
