Fitness Hero, Workout Hero trademarked News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

2 July, 2009

Voice-activated exercise specialist VPT Technologies has been spotted trademarking the names Fitness Hero and Workout Hero.

Siliconera laid eyes on the patent, which mentions "a web-based videogame system to connect all users in a safe and secure global network".

Phrases like "align the various markets" and "synergistic" are thrown in almost for fun.

Activision has had immense success with Guitar Hero, which has lead to spin-offs of Hero-related rhythm titles. DJ Hero arrives on its wave of marketing-powered excitement this autumn.

Gearbox appears to want a piece of the Hero pie as well, having recently trademarked a quartet of familiar sounding names: War Hero, World War II Hero, Modern War Hero and Brothers In Arms War Hero.

Whether any of these will materialise is unknown.

Don't care if any of 'em actually materialise or not, so long as it all sticks two fingers up to Activision and their plans to be even bigger arseholes than EA ever were. >)

Going off how much you have to spend for GH and now DJH looks just as pricey factor in the DLC you'll need to get (as more then likly it'll be 'buy per exercise') it'll probly end up cheaper and more effective to actally goto the gym.

Sorry music wise it's 'ok' but this is taking it too far, EA:SA and Wiifit only really help to a certain degree how is 'Hero' going to justify you buying it? It's not, people will expect results from 'a game', sorry but it's a pipe dream to expect to get anything just by 'playing' theres soooo much more to it

Workout Hero - uses a board similar to the Wii Fit balance board, but has five buttons that you step on in time to Mr Motivator's instructions. "Green! Blue! Green-Blue! Red! Orange!" etc.
