It's another on-rails lightgun game. Basically a taunt from Capcom to Wii owners along the lines of-

"see how good a real Resident Evil game could look on Wii...shame we can't be arsed to make one."
  • Cloudane #2 3 years ago

A mixture of in-game and CGI-bobbins going on there.

Looks nice for the Wii though.
  • DFawkes #3 3 years ago

Is it just me, or are some of those clearly showing the other character at the same time as the reticle. Online co-op? Wouldn't be the hardest thing for Wii. Jumping to conclusions, but if it happens you heard it here first.

Nice to see the cutscenes are re-done, at least it's had some effort poured into it.
  • Psiloc #4 3 years ago

Hmm. I might be calling bullshot on some of these.
  • Triggerhappytel #5 3 years ago

It would be nice if these were in-game, although I am a little sceptical. Either way, I expect it will crap on THotD:O's graphics.

Hey its Ash Ketchum in the third screen pikachu killed him at last...

in other news...I want a real game Capcom...UC1 was good this is just taking the piss though!

Capcom showed what they could squeeze out of the Gamecube with Resi 4 - yes they do look light years ahead of most devlopers.

That's because they are light years ahead of most developers in the graphics department on Wii - more so in enclosed space's i.e. not the huge expanses of Dead Rising.

Anyone having witnessed the MT engine strut it's stuff (DMC4 LP Resi 4 etc) will be in no doubt of Capcom's in-house engines graphically frippery - plus great use of texturing and contrasting lighting.

A pity they're not so innovate in any other department...

Argh why arn't Capcom remaking the entire series? With the graphics they've done for this and Umbrella chronicles they have covered the entire seies from 0 to Code Veronica! They could remake all five games before RE4 with total 3D graphics and hardly much production costs. Do it Capcom & I'll forgive any on rails shooters.
  • septimus #10 3 years ago

    Yup, bullshots. NIcely post-processed.
  • HarryPalmer #11 3 years ago

3rd screenshot - baseball cap zombie - leg through corpse - wouldn't they fix that if they were bullshots? OR is it all mind games?
  • Oh-Bollox #12 3 years ago

Leon the one-man band looks more girlish than Claire. In the sixth pic he's about to holster up and give us a "Because I'm worth it."

L'Oreal removes all the dried zombie brains from your hair, every time!
  • rogueJT #13 3 years ago

Leon seems to look European again as opposed to that RE: Degeneration where he had a Japanese face!

No shit, seek it out yourselves.

Maybe, but my guess is that it's just what happens when you play alone (maybe this time you can have the CPU to help you out).

By the way, Claire looks horrid in the CG shot. Not so in the last screen. Granted, the actual game probably won't have that much antialiasing.
  • Kami #15 3 years ago

Claire and her pert ass in your face? Priceless. There are some things money can't buy...
  • evild_edd #16 3 years ago

Doesn't the article mention something about a dodge function in the game....? If so, it would make sense that you could see your character and the reticle at the same time.

Sort of an on-rails thrid person shooter.......interesting......

Either that or there is some Time Crisis 2 action going on with being able to see your partner in an (offline/online) co-op mode.

Or the screens are mock-ups, of course :/
  • Beek4257 #17 3 years ago

    Damnit!

Leon, Claire, Raccoon City: it's RE2!!

Now I have to buy me frikkin' a Wii.

    Sounds about right. :/

Also, "lol" at some of the sad tards in this thread who just don't want to believe that the graphics on their big fat consoles they get their self-worth out aren't actually as superior as they thought when a developer actually tries on a Wii game.
  • smelly #19 3 years ago

@Nikanoru: This is the point when they start piping up that it's not high def so cant be good..

While totally ignoring that games like halo 3 werent in hi-def either...
  • smelly #20 3 years ago

The target looks arse though - i could draw better in paint.
  • Malek86 #21 3 years ago

Nikanoru: sorry, it's not a matter of self-denial, it's just that I've yet to see a Wii game with that much AA. So forgive me if I'm being very skeptical here.
  • smelly #22 3 years ago

@Malek86: Didnt play metroid 3 or mario galaxy then? Or even the pikmin remake for that matter...

EDIT : or did you play them in 480i on a shit expensive hi-def sony tv?

I played Mario Galaxy, and while the graphics are awesome, at times it actually has more aliasing than other Wii games (I remember, especially when getting the first superstar, there were some pretty big black lines)... granted, I play on a Samsung. That's never good.

Still, if you search for Mario Galaxy pictures on the net, you'll see it has a lot more aliasing than this. Look at the desk on the second-to-last picture: that looks like edge softening to me.

Anyway, no one can say for sure until the game comes out, so...
  • Nikanoru #24 3 years ago

Edge softening? LOL. Take a look at the full resolution. There's no edge softening, any blur you see comes from the resizing in EG's gallery. These are 480 resolution shots, they're just blown up.

Let's all just finally get over it: those other big boxes aren't that special compared to the little white one. It's developers/publishers who are the "bottleneck".

That said, fuck this game, and fuck Capcom. I'll wait until a real survival horror game comes around (and no, that's not RE5).
