i'm fairly sure they are in-game, it's the same engine as GTA IV, and that didn't look any worse

GTA IV runs well enough after the patch even on my ageing system. I'll take a game that runs like GTA IV over no game any day of the week.
But Rockstar's decisions what they release on PC and what not seem a little random. Bully yes, Midnight Club no? Hmmm.

Still runs horribly on my system, which, while admittedly isn't top of the line, can run any of the newest games butter smooth at highest settings.
