Oh god, the wait is going to be unbearable.

    Heeeere we go again!!!

To my eyes, they look a bit like renders using game assets rather than actual gameplay. Its just a feeling though and I could easily be wrong.

Looks cool, but I sort of agree with Kangarootoo

obviously everyones forgotten how crap the first one was?
  • Razorus #6 3 years ago

The first game was great but had flaws. They can only improve on the formula. Unless they fail epically.
But yeah, these are in-game shots. The graphics look great.

Wow. Zombie showgirl. There's a first for everything I guess...

"Zombie Showgirl" sounds like the name of a band, by the way.

I dont know a single person that didnt get fustrated/bored with it...

Maybe my friends are all as weird as me? :)
  • GamesConnoisseur #9 3 years ago

Me wasnt frustrated or bored with it! Finish the whole game in almost 1 sitting! I can see why people toooo used to multi game saves be frustrated at being FORCED to put up with the consquences of their actions/failures. But the game is designed around that and every restart you are better equipped to tackle the game, faster, stronger and so on.

So nothing get unused by each play through, each points goes toward making later restarting more easier. Still I only restarted 3 times i think before I was able to finish the game in one go.

Woah woah woah. I remember one the best games from this generation, I'd check your memory if I were you.
  • smelly #11 3 years ago

I got stuck on a boss fight where some dude was shooting at me with a machine gun..

    I gave up.

    (all my friends did too).

shame as i was enjoying it up to then.. Albeit apart from the wanky save system where i kill everyone in a room.. save.. and after saving they all come back again (Arrggh!)

May give it another go soon - maybe i was too harsh on it

Some of DR1 was awesome and some of it was painfully broken imho.

The "always-on" gameplay mechanic of whacking zombies was sheer brilliance. Boss fights and the save system were poor choices in my eyes.

I can't really be arsed to get into the debate about the save system, as its the same everytime. Needless to say I simply think the game would have been more fun if they had done things a different way. I didn't want to be taught a lesson about consequence, I didn't want to have a departure from the usual save game structure for its own sake, I simply wanted to have as much fun as possible.

Hopefully that is where the sequel will take me, as the core foundation gameplay set out in DR1 is a great place to start from.

It wouldn't have been more fun, it just would have been easier. People are used to things being easy. I applaud a game that dares frustrate people to give an artistically faithful experience. I really hope they don't change the save system. The only problem I had with the first game was that I never managed to save everyone! The lame AI didn't even bother me cos I expect everyday sh*tscared civilians to behave like idiots in the face of a zombie invasion whether you give them instructions or not. Brilliant in every way.

I hope the sequel is the same but bigger! How about a week in a zombie infestation, with a whole Vagas like strip to explore? Yes? :D

    Thats not Frank. :/

I bet it has something fucking stupid like co-op aswell.

It was a great game but the save system was horribly broken. Whoever thought that that was a good idea should be taken out back and shot.
  • absolutezero #16 3 years ago

Breakable weapons have never ever been a good idea. Ever. Not once have they worked to increase fun in a game. I can't understand why anyone would put them in.

Sums up the entire state of japanese game devlopemnt right now, IMHO.

Great ideas they somehow feel the need to cripple with frustrating design choices left over from years past.

The save system made the game challenging and nerve wrecking and i wouldnt have it any other way in the sequel. Dont want a challenge buy something else.
  • penhalion #19 3 years ago

    Er that's not Frank!
  • kinky_mong #20 3 years ago

Frank is probably dead by now. If he managed to get past all those zombies surrounding the tank (which is very unlikely) he's probably turned into one anyway because Isabella told him the cure probably won't work

Well this is what I am saying. I don't want a game to frustrate me in the pursuit of lofty ideals. I mean, how on EARTH did we arrive at a position where frustrating a player was considered a good thing, to be actively encouraged?

I feel absolutely sure that the changes I am mooting would have made the game more fun for me. I don't give a rats ass about willy waving "if you don't like challenge buy another game" type nonsense. I am a paying customer, so I demand fun not frustration.

We can agree to disagree if you feel otherwise.

I can't help but agree with this. I'm having a very conflicting experience forcing myself to play through Okami (Wii) at the moment, because it feels like I'm slogging against Japanese game design foibles.

It'll be interesting to see if this unproven shower of Canucks can fix the issues of the original without spoiling what made it great.
  • ERG1008 #25 3 years ago

Nice to see they got David Beckham to play the lead in this.

First was ok up to a point but found it far too frustrating.

(scared to say this for fear of people jumping in and saying im a fanboy)

    - i'm actually looking forwards more to the wii dead rising game.. Having less bad guys on the screen might make the game less fustrating (certainly less fustrating than clearing a room of 100's of bad guys - saving - only to find 100's of bad guys have magically re-spawned - and now i have f-all health).

    There i said it...
  • smelly #28 3 years ago

    ??

Aww.. did i hurt your poor feelings? Poor babbeeey.
  • smelly #29 3 years ago

didnt miss the point.. i played the first one.. and loved it.. right up until a "boss fight" which was too hard for me and i stopped playing.

I needed a gun.. so i tried to get to the gun store.. i'd clear out an area - save.. and then come back to find all the zombies i've just killed have magically re-appeared.

It was impressive tech.. it just wasnt (for me) fun. I'd prefer more balanced gameplay without the shitty boss fights.. and less zombies..

Guess I'm actually looking for a resi evil game (lol).

I can't wait this game looks awsome
