Jesus, I had Carrier Command on my Atari St. I never had a clue what I was doing, but I liked launching the ships and the planes.

I remember finishing this on the amiga so many years ago now, but did I ever once see the other ship...did I bugger.

Quite looking forward to playing this again.

I used to faff around in Carrier Command all the time in my childhood years. Never actually made any PROGRESS in the game to speak of, but I did enjoy launching loads of fighters and shooting them down again, that was fun.

Wow, I *loved* Carrier Command on the ST. Flying Mantas and so on never got old. The strategic element of supply lines, island types, and so on was really good too.

Hostile Waters is the only game in recent memory to even come close. And that was a long time ago now. You can get that on GoG for a fiver, and I'd recommend it to any CC fans who haven't played it.

Thatenemy carrier was always so damn fast!

No shit - I found the enemy carrier once while flying a manta, it was pulling away from an island and it accelerated up to the *top speed* of my fighter aircraft. I could follow it until I ran out of fuel.

I think I also remember it blithely sailing through an island as well!

I had CC on the Atari as well.. It was a brilliant game, so much fun. I remember having one head-on encounter between the enemy carrier and mine, and the bugger sailed right through me!

If it is ANYTHING like ARMA II then it I will give this a miss. That game is full of bugs and has the performance of a sick dog.

Arma 2 devs eh? Ill look forward to it being a fucking shambolic mess then
  • TurboBailey #13 3 years ago

    Wow!

Only slighly better graphics than my old Atari ST copy then?

I liked the backwards view out of the Manta jet as you took off - it was just like that bit in top gun!

Any word on any platforms besides PC?

I managed to kill the enemy carrier a couple of times. Trick was to get to an island just as it started to take it over - you could usually trap it as it was turning round to sail away. Observation laser FTW! Also the cruise missiles were awesome - if you could get your carrier turned round, as they fired backwards...
