Final Fantasy IV on DS in September

Significantly remade for your palm.

Square Enix is preparing the DS remake of Final Fantasy IV for release on 5th September.

It comes with repainted 3D graphics and fully-voiced cut-scenes, plus a rearranged score and additional content that lets you explore the previously unseen lives of the main characters.

Platform-specific features include dual-screen layout and touch-screen controls, obviously, and Square has cobbled together a monster summon battle game for wireless multiplayer.

Final Fantasy IV tells the story of disgraced dark knight Cecil, who is cast out by his king and sent to slay a mysterious beast; a trial that will touch on all of the areas you might expect from a good soap opera: heroes, betrayal, redemption, love, magic, pint of milk and a fight at the chippy.

    I saw some vids of this and it looked like it was seriously chugging along on the DS... I wish Square had done the remake job for the PSP.

    Terrible voice acting, anyone?

    I like Kain's voice.

    Anyone know if you can save in dungeons in this? The lack of this feature was a deal breaker in FFIII. Bastards.

    There are save points in dungeons where you can also camp to regain HP / MP, assuming you have a tent. Been playing the US import for a few weeks, it is very lovely.

    I can't wait!

    I love Final Fantasy III - although I do share the same pain as Tomo does - so I'm looking forward to this.

    This is a better game than III and the ability to pitch a tent in a dungeon is a massive bonus. Been playing the US version for a while now.

    @Widge

    The game runs fine, even the FMV. I much prefer playing on the DS, then I would have on the PSP, where it would most probably would have been chugging along.. PSP games tend to look like dated PS2 games, at least this has some level of charm to it. And I have to say I actually quite like the voice acting, it's not brilliant, but it's not distracting, or anything.

    But once again, Nintendo od Europe have failed. Why would anyone in Europe wait until September, I've been playing the US version for two weeks, and I didn't pay as much as I would by waiting for the EU release.

    Final Fantasy IV swiftly followed by Dragon Quest IV. Looks like the epic JRPGs are going to be fighting it out for my time in September.
