FIFA Street 3 demo on Live/PSN News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

17 January, 2008

Everyone's favourite game about PEOPLE'S HERO PETER CROUCH has arrived on Xbox Live and - Sony confirmed later in the day - PlayStation Network in demo form.

Yes, it's FIFA Street 3. The demo could be about anything, really - all we have to go on is Major Nelson's unusually brief blog post, followed by the spammed pleas of someone called rmdb23 to get his console unbanned. Rubbish gamerscore, rmdb23.

Anyway, FIFA Street 3 is due out on PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS on 22nd February, and sees the likes of PEOPLE'S HERO PETER CROUCH doing urban football with special powers and lots of tricks.

EA's calling it a re-invention, and hoping that the new console hardware at their disposal will help them "break new ground for consumers".

We should be getting hold of code fairly soon, so we'll let you know.

Just tried it, it's okay. Like to see how it plays over xbox Live......the demo does not allow this, only single player game.

Hopefully this won't be as execrable as the last two horrors.

I really enjoyed the last 2. They were much much better when played with mates, like most sports games. Four of us would regularly get together and play this, it was great.

Not sure I'll buy it at full value, maybe when it drops to £20 I'll invest.

My mate's a hardcore Liverpool fan.... isn't it "his feet stick out the bed"?

@ Somatic

Yeah it is, he was a couple of years above me at school and I played with him once (I was never really any good at football, so I was always in goal) as some part of inter house competition, he was a bit useful as a centre back!

293.48 MB. That's the smallest demo for quite some time methinks. Smaller demo sizes are a good thing. I don't want to download over a gig and a half to find out that the game is a steaming pile of Sith. Yes, Frontlines demo, I mean you.

I couldn't remember so I googled it. Clearly Google isn't a hardcore red. Death to it.

Man, this game looks really bad... I mean, REALLY bad.

The animations, the textures, even the sound look and sound last gen, and I am by no means a total graphics whore!

Are news items sorted by their comments now? Doesn't that make it really easy to miss a load of news items if you've not looked for a while? Well I guess it's just the like the forum then I spose

just downloaded and played it, and i can officially say it is one of the worst games i have ever played

Although having said that it will very likely get to number 1 in the charts with nagging kids forcing parents to buy such junk.

It's so frustrating how bad this game is, because the concept is wonderful. If another developer could steal the idea and make it more responsive, less clusterfucking annoyingly clunky and a little less complicated control-wise, it'd be ace.

Not my favourite demo.

But the players (even though cartoony) are far more recognisable than the awful models of FIFA 08. Maybe they should get these guys to model the faces for 09.

Downloaded it last night, deleted it 10 minutes after i fiddled with it. Poor graphics - animation and laughable gameplay.
NBA 08 wasn't that bad though, and very good looking too (although it's still too easy to pull a pump fake and the AI a bit shoddy).

What a disappointment. It's just so dull to play because the small playing area means tactics are pointless and the graphics are average with very little detail. I absolutely hate the stylised art work, all the players look like Peter Crouch!!! I tried both the 360 (@720p) and PS3 versions and both appear to be identical. I did notice that the PS3 version appeared to run natively at 1080p but considering how simple the graphics are, it's not really that surprising. Yet another rubbish EA BIG demo then following the equally mediocre NFL Tour.

It's shocking.

I like the concept of "street" versions of sports and have done since epyx did them. If you are going to do them make them fast, fun and dirty. This is none of those things.

Had a few games, it seems fine to be honest. The art style suits the concept well. What I'm concerned about at this stage is that the game doesn't have the depth of the trick system of NBA Street Homecourt which was simple on the surface but could be quite sophisticated if you dug a bit deeper. This game doesn't seem to have that to the same extent. I'm definitely interested though.

You still get that feeling that someone's yet to really pick up the street football concept and run with it, t hough.
