FIFA 11 has Street mode on Wii

EA paves the way.

EA Sports will stuff a comprehensive Street mode into the Wii version of FIFA 11.

This five-aside tangent uses a smaller pitch (indoor and outdoor) with a wall. And said wall can be used for jumping off or playing passes off.

There's an arcade game-type that features a power bar which, once filled, can unleash super-shots, bursts of speed, shockwaves, shoulder charges, "big versus little" and "more".

Street locations vary from Brazil to London to France. You'll be able to tinker with the rules a bit, too, altering match types - Tug of War, First to Score - and even how big the goals are and where they should be: mini-goals, wall goals and elevated nets are examples given.

EA has made significant changes to the main 11 versus 11 game. There's a brand new attacker versus defender trick system that quickly and easily commands rainbow flicks, 360 degree spins, scorpion kicks and other eye-catching moves. Shot controls have been mapped back to the Wiimote buttons, and there are new animations and shot types: blast, finesse, chip and tip.

User-controlled celebrations are in (including secret ones), too, and there's support for two versus two online play.

A managerial mode is also sandwiched in, and performing well will boost your team's stats whereas losing will have the opposite effect.

Teams span 30 licensed leagues, which roughly pans out to 500 teams and around 15,000 players.

FIFA 11 will be released on 1st October in Europe.

Who remembers the indoor mode on the old FIFAs? PLEASE reintroduce this mode for the PS3, 360 and PC EA!? We know you're reading this Peter, do it! Please!

Looks and sounds good. I've quite enjoyed the last couple of FIFA Wii iterations for their control system, the Xbox and PS3 versions just frustrate the hell out of me (No, don't pas to HIM... call THAT a through ball!!)

Haha look at those blocky graphics. Really they look like something off Cartoon Network.

They were always quite fun distractions, in the old days when fifa really wasnt very good anyway. I wouldnt mind if they introduced this as a funky little side mode for the xbox/ps3 versions, but I guess theyll try and fob it off as afull game, Fifa Street 4 anyone? Theyre crap as full games, but as a side mode would be good fun for a while.

    their hands are massive.

It's an intentional cartoon stylisation. They introduced it last year on Wii.
As for the hands, the guy on the right has his hands near the screen. Plus they're using some kind of distorted lens for the screenshot. Either that, or you play the game with elliptical eggs, rather than spheres, this year.

+1 for adding this as a mode to PS3\360\PC versions. Always thought they were to slight as a standalone game but as an option in the main FIFA release it would be excellent.

If there's a draw at full time I expect "NEXT GOAL WINS" to flash up as are the rules of the street.

Actually that should happen at full time regardless of the score.

I enjoyed the very first Fifa Street but the current gen 360 version is terrible.

I was just saying the other day that the main game is pretty much at the top of it's game and thet would need to move sideways with things like 5 a side! You can have that one EA.

Hopefully they take their time because this could be fun if done right.

Surely this will be on the 360 & PS3 as well though ?

Will the 'street' mode return Football 'to its roots'?

You know, gangs playing games at midnight in basketball courts, wearing 'urban' clothes, listening to hip hop whilst they play and where games are played for cash and turf?

Just where football originated and how we all played it growing up!

2v2 online? Nice!! Hopefully the game isn't shit.

Mock the week last week. If it's grass roots football goal posts should be jumpers and the match goes on until the kid who owns the ball wants to go home.

Because the Wii is the most "street" console known to man.

Hope there's some customisation this time. Player creation and editing should be a standard feature in every sports game by now, it's pretty damning that EA's Wii team haven't bothered to include it up until now. I'm pleased to hear that the standard mode is focused on a more 'realistic' (if you can ever call a game with those ugly graphics 'realistic') representation of football, fingers crossed that manager mode will also be more in-depth than previous iterations on Nintendo's console. It's amazing that no Wii FIFA game has managed to get my money yet, despite the fact that all I want is a decent manager mode, Be A Pro and the ability to edit players and teams - surely that's the bare minimum that should be expected?

I have no doubt EA will add this on the 360 and PS3 versions.....for 1200 points/10 pounds
