FIFA 11 detailed in UK lads mag

New passing system, custom chants.

The latest issue of UK lads mag Zoo has revealed details of FIFA 11.

According to the mag, new systems include Pro Passing, which makes it harder to perform ping-pong exchanges up to the halfway line, and a new emphasis on players' individual attributes.

These should be more evident during regular play all over the pitch, rather than just in obvious areas like speed and acceleration, and new body types will make it easier to distinguish players at a distance.

Other new tricks include swerve passes, driven and backspin lofted through balls, and refined goalkeepers.

It will also be possible to customise your team's chants and intro music.

Look out for a massive FIFA 11 "blowout" tomorrow on Eurogamer based on our experience with the game, which should be out this autumn, and our discussions with developer EA Canada.

    Custom chants?

    Oh God.

It's turning back towards old FIFA.

Let's make a game for the lads yeah! Phwoar YEAH! Chicks and beer and fooooootie! What next you can take your pro get lashed with your teammates the night before a match?
  • Shikasama #2 2 years ago

Cool! More tricks! I TOTALLY used them in Fifa 10!
  • The_Sonic_Mole #3 2 years ago

I just hope they actually test the Manager Mode before release this year...
  • HandOfBeadle #4 2 years ago

    @Hantheman

    Think it through.

Custom chants in a football game are about uploading real SFX from real football matches to improve the atmosphere. If FIFA has done this then it's a massive improvement. Anyone who has played a patched version of PES on the PC will tell you how this infinitely improves the sense of immersion. I'm sure Everton fans will like seeing their team emerge from the tunnel to the Z Cars theme, or Liverpool fans singing along to Gerry and The Pacemakers over the tannoy.

They should get Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg to do the commentary. The only good thing about UFC 2010 was the excellent commentary.

Fifa was fucking shit and how it wasn't scored down for that is beyond me. It was seriously poor. Was it really just over the bar? Was it Andy? BECAUSE THE REF THINKS I FUCKING SCORED AND THE REPLY SHOWED IT WAS A FREEKICK ALONG THE GROUND.

Gets ready for inevitable Fifa 11 media blitz as they try to convince us (and the journalists) that whatever bullet point list of features they have added onto the already bloated engine code is worth another £40.

Look I'm sorry but Fifa 10 was a major disappointment given their promises to make the Management mode great when in reality it was really buggy and instead of fixing it they pulled all resources onto the World Cup Cash In. I fell for it last year but not this year.

I respectfully request that Eurogamer's recent frugal approach to reviewing is applied to these ill-advised seasonal updates, and that you really look at what is actually working in the final product before orgasming at custom chants.

I know thats a grumpy post but the money this game brings in for them they should do better.

I'm on fifa09. Time soon to upgrade to fifa10. If they churn out this many games I dont mind being a few months behind.
I've never understood why they dont offer an upgrade for existing owners. I mean, 35 quid each time, come on.

'Im assuming this was on the same page as a giant pair of tits? '

Well maybe they're setting the standard for the year and will include a pair on the front cover like Terry & Ashley Cole for example? :)

    Edit: Changed player

After being suckered in by FIFA 10 (and then watching in horror as every team no matter how good or bad passed at 90%) this will be a demo before purchase and even then I will be looking and hoping at PES.

Y...E...O...V...I...L... Yeovil! *Clap Clap Clap* Yeovil! *Clap Clap Clap*

In my heart I am always Yeeeooovil, I belong to the Yeovil Town. Yeovil True! Through and through, whether we're up or down! Because the sign of a true supporter, is the colour of their heart! Day or night, green and white, we are Yeovil Town! Oooh Arrr!

    /hides

This will be awesome for your average lower league supporter, where the closest they come to your club is having the right kit (for Yeovil even the numbers and lettering were completely the wrong colour last season). Just gives a little scope for personalisation. I approve.

I just hope they actually test the Manager Mode before release this year...

If by "they" you mean "one work experience bloke in the QA dept" and by "test" you mean "simulate two games", then yes - yes, they will.

-2 for dissing the commentary I see.

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks the Fifa 10 commentary is anything above shambolic needs to go and have a serious word with themselves, and possibly a medical check up.
  • andijames #14 2 years ago

    @Shikasama

Listened to the PES commentary lately? FIFA's could be better maybe less repetitive but it is far from shambolic.
  • vyseofhr #15 2 years ago

Commentry goes onto either Swedish or Mexican for me the week after I buy it.
  • MerricK #16 2 years ago

how did you manage to pull yourself away from staring at boobs for "work" long enough to post the news story? thank you.
  • Widge #17 2 years ago

As long as playing it doesn't become a case of finger twister and remember ultracombo-esque button combinations.
  • Shikasama #18 2 years ago

So because another game's commentary is worse, Fifa's is fine? It's not even that it's repetative, its the frequency of it being just plain wrong. It is completely unrepresentative of what is happening on the pitch, a lot of the commentators interplay flits between being one step away from outright bumming and completely patronising.

That's a top idea about putting it in another language.
  • nasanu #19 2 years ago

I got sucked in last time buying fifa 10. Buggy pos would not even let me buy a single player in manager mode. Fuck the new tricks, spend the money testing this time.

What are the odds that Eurogamer bought up the topic of the epic game ruining bugs in their little chat with EA Canada? 1000000 to 1?
  • miiiguel #20 2 years ago

A fake Facebook page and a lads mag ?!

    E3 can't come soon enough.
  • asharkman #21 2 years ago

Everyone should buy the Mexican commentary.
    IT'S AMAZING!
    GOAL GOAL GOAL!!!!!
They should give it away for free.
  • hiddenranbir #22 2 years ago

The only time I ever use tricks is when I don't actually need to use it, when the opposing player is MILES away from me. Seems to be the only time they work.
  • Pedrolot #23 2 years ago

Not interested. Sick to death of having to constantly buy the next fifa game.

This franchise is worse then COD!
  • jaangus #24 2 years ago

I cant wait for this I reluctantly bought the world cup game after renting it as it plays so much better than fifa10. Im hoping this will be a more refined version of the world cup game engine if so it should be vastly superior to fifa10
  • Metalfish #25 2 years ago

EG, I'll give you a crisp fiver if you refer to "Lad's Mags" as "stupid misogynistic cock-rags" from now on. Deal?
  • bad09 #26 2 years ago

So I was right and 11 isn't coming to PC it seems from the EG game info, PC stuck with K&M micro-payment arse crap. Great...

Is the next PES on PC?

EDIT - oh yes it is. Bye bye I guess EA sports :(

Really looking forward to this. Fifa 10 was the closest console experience to real football I've ever come across so can only hope they've ironed out the niggles - the silly chesting it down business on the goal line eternally pisses me off for example. But overall, I think Fifa is remarkable. Not sure what the bugs in manager mode are, I've played that mode twice for several seasons each time and found nothing at all to go wrong. Taking Charlton from the lower leagues to the Premiership was terrific fun and something I got much more kick from than that PES mode whose name I've already forgotten. Maybe I was just lucky, obviously if there are bugs in there somewhere I hope they will be addressed.

Overall, this is one game that a mere season update may be justified as it is pretty close to just a tweak away from football perfection.

Edit: Oh yeah, tricks are fucking useless alright!

Don't worry mate, it's nothing personal.

Your not allowed to do anything other than kiss butt on these forums now the new gold stars are in operation

    @immateriaux

i didn't have game breaking bugs either, and i took charlton to the prem too.
    Maybe it's an Addicks thing?
  • brseg #31 2 years ago

Please just get rid of the +/- comment voting stuff. Have a 'report' button for offensive content, and perhaps a 'thanks for useful comment' button. the negging is ridiculous.
Anyway, I better say something about fifa... what can they bring new to fifa? I still think the player animations could look better, maybe they'll have to get euphoria engine. The pitch and players look a bit better in fifa10 than fifa9. I'd like to see them keep the 'dad mode' from wc2010, that sounded like a good idea to get people into the game - there are just so many button combos now.
  • immateriaux #32 2 years ago

    Good stuff ricky! :)

Those sounds like reasonable improvements, although EA pissed me off so much last year I'll be giving PES a chance (I'm actually going to pick PES10 up on the cheap to see how it is).

Out in the autumn? Is October considered Autumn as if previous release dates are anything to go by it won't be out till then? I thought this was because they wait for the transfer window to shut before finalizing the squads.
  • Whitster #36 2 years ago

I say for shame on EA for giving mags like Zoo priority on reporting this stuff over the specialist media.

Or is it that we can read the Nuts article but have to pay an extra $10 to read a feature by a games journalist?
