FIFA 10 debuts in EA's monster E3 line-up

Football game tentatively due in October.

EA has announced that FIFA 10 will be a part of its enormous E3 line-up next week.

It's the first we've heard or seen of the football game, which the company says will be out in both the UK and the US this October.

A local EA representative told Eurogamer that date is unconfirmed, however, as October is a placeholder used because the series usually appears then. EA expects this to be the case again, but the actual date is not set in stone.

The line-up press release mentions little about what FIFA 10 will "refine", so look out for more news from E3.

FIFA 10 joins 25 other EA titles at the Los Angeles event next week. The full list, which is probably the biggest of any publisher at E3 we've ever seen, follows:

  • Army of Two: The 40th Day (PS3, PSP, Xbox 360)
  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
  • Brutal Legend (PS3, Xbox 360)

There will be a FIFA game this year, out at some non-specific point. And that's the headline?!
  • Ruuh #6 3 years ago

Holy crap, finally! I was beginning to wonder, if there will ever be a new FIFA!

If Fifa10 shows the same "This game session is no longer available" every time I try to play an online match like 09 does I'll not be happy.

It took me 15 minutes on monday night to connect to a game then the little fucker quit in the first half because I was winning.

Shame - wasn't there supposed to be a Syndicate Wars sequel on show?

Ea have been really delivering recently. Expect even more greatness with Fifa. Fight Night looks awesome, so to does Sims 3 and Need for speed (this one does trust me).

26 new titles and the game that gets the headline is the one with about 30 previous iterations.

I don't know if that's a more damning indictment of Eurogamer, EA or the games industry in general.

    Good they'll show ME2 \o/

No Dead Space 2 tho :(
  • uglygamer #12 3 years ago

@Skilian. First we are in Europe, so its the most popular game out of all of them. Secondly Fifa 2009 is brilliant. Thirdly stop moaning over something so insignificant.

    >Fifa10 to look identical to Fifa09, Fifa08

    But they don't, do they?

FIFA has gone from being a rubbish football game with more emphasis on menu music and replica kits than gameplay to arguably much better than PES. And while PES still makes horrid mistakes like letting the stupid AI do lunging slide tackles through the back of people when you aren't controlling them, FIFA keeps improving.

And it's the biggest selling game in the world. So fair play to them.

EDIT: and it sells sodding bucket loads. So fair play to them.

Can you provide evidence to back up this blatant untruth. FIFA 09 is my most played game of this generation, followed by 08, with 07, WC06 and Euro 08 all featuring in the top 10 (according to 360voice), so I won't hear a bad word about it, but that's ludicrously untrue. It sells loads in the UK, yes, but compared to GTA, Halo, Wii Fit, COD4, Guitar Hero et al it's fairly insignificant.

    lol

a series which has had yearly updates every year for almost 20 years is going to have a yearly update in 2009?

    *SHOCKER*

The following was taken from Eurogamer's Peter Moore interview, which was posted on the 30th of April:

"Last week, the British exec who describes himself as a "hybrid Scouse-American", was at London's Emirates Stadium, home to the consistently trophyless Arsenal, for the unveiling of FIFA 10."

This second excerpt was taken from this very article, which was published today:

"EA has announced that FIFA 10 will be a part of its enormous E3 line-up next week. It's the first we've heard or seen of the football game, which the company says will be out in both the UK and the US this October."

    I'm confused.
  • ozallez #19 3 years ago

i'm confused too... i thought we were waiting for the embargoed previews to surface

hope one year EA move the date back to closer to the start of the season. They can update the squads online (it already misses the end of the transfer window) ... maybe release end of august or start of september?

  • sega #20 3 years ago

The first Fifa game without Newcastle in the Premier League!
  • Jockie #21 3 years ago

    Littlest petshop online? sounds amazing.
  • HuggyAtHome #22 3 years ago

Brutal Legend is where it's at.
  • geeza2020 #23 3 years ago

I think theres about 17 or 18 titles in that list that are sequels or spin-offs to other games already out there. Impressive quantity EA, but as usual little or no quality and innovation.

P.S. However i am looking forward to ME2 (as the first one was ace but that game being good was down to the devs not the fat cats at EA.)
