I reckon EA are missing a fundemental assumption that Konami got right: Footy games will largely appeal and sell to a hardcore footy-fan crowd (of which there is no shortage of), and dumbing down will put off your core market.

Of the 'final four' that are missing in that screenshot, number two is clearly Christiano Ronaldo. Not sure about the others, suppose one or three could be Henry.

my gawd, with comments like tentonipete's it must be depressing to be a journalist sometimes. Interesting read, the game looks like it could be good - the first had potential but i got bored pretty quick.

Not really sure who this is aimed at, a few people at work have 7/8/9 year olds and they love PES 2008 on the Wii and by all accounts are pretty awesome at it,I also love it and I'm 26.

Who wants a cutesy football-light version?

After PES 2008 Wii turned me into a football gamer, something I never thought I'd be, this sounds pretty underwhelming. Let's hope Konami tightens up the defense for PES 09 and that EA swings back with a serious contender next year.

This one I'll be happy to leave on the shelves by the look of it.

well i would have to say that making the game too realistic will ruin it as it will make the game too hard and some features (skill:will be too difficult too perform in a match like in fifa 08 onine or just messing in free play ....

some good exciting features shoud be establised in the game such as the byecycle kick made easier too perform....!!
