Hmmm, I'm confused now after reading that...

Up until now all the preview's for Ghost that I've seen show some kind of one player "Splinter Cell in the future" type game.

From what I read here this sounds more like Battlefront :/ So, is it a multiplayer only strategy type game? A multiplayer action game? Is there also a single player game, but you just played the multiplayer portion?

Blizzard has never been involved in a game that I haven't liked, so I'd love to know what the actual game model is now........

This actually sounds alright!

Presumably the multiplayer is online only?

I also heard that they were canning the GameCube version. I hope this isn't true.........

Edit: Damn, I just read the news confirming that they are indeed canning the cube version! Oh well.

Your entire article doesn't talk about release date!
This one has been locked in development hell for sooooo long.
Right now they're probably locked in meetings to see if there's any way of
upgrading their presumably vast investment in graphics to be suitable
for next-gen consoles...

Given that I saw this being demoed back in early 2003, I think talk of a release date is pretty meaningless. They'll release it 'when it's done' basically. We could say mid-2006, but we have no idea, and neither does anybody else.

Is this still being worked on?Blimey thought it had gone the way of the `vulcan fury/forge` game that was canned years ago,yet sadly the last ever original series star trek episode/game to use the actors before they began to die.

Gah Blizzard better sort it out! and get info out on the singleplayer campaign. Hasn't it been proven already that the majority of console players aren't that interested in multiplayer, i'm not, I couldn't give a rats arse and wish they'd get to the meat and potatoes.

What happened to the Protoss, anyway?

Jonnyreb: Single Player is a Splinter-Celly thing, though it seems with a more action bent. The multiplayer, however, is like... well, like this.

"What happened to the Protoss, anyway?"

Something a journo said about another interview was that a developer said that they'd be a third side in the multiplayer, The Protoss. Which, was such a major announcement which I didn't hear from anyone else, I presume had to be a fancy lie... or a major slip on the developer's part.

(The latter with Blizzard is fairly unlikely. They play their hands close to the chest)

Either way, since I don't have access to the tape, I didn't feel comfortable even reporting it as rumour. I mention here because... well, you asked.

They had SC:Ghost mutiplayer running at E3 with 4v4 games - was pretty good, I think it was just terran vs. terran. The whole mutiplayer thing is 100% pitched at live and from what i saw, it really does kick the crap out of Halo online.

Then again, as stated, it probably does need a ton of polish to complete.

Did anyone else see the frankly bizarre preview of this in OPS2M this month?

It was barking. A sarcastically reported double-page interview with the head of Blizzard, plus a load of jokes about how the game was obviously going to be s*it.

One of the strangest things I've seen in any magazine for ages! I can't believe that Blizzard approved it!

They also mention that the Protoss will be part of multiplayer on 1up.com. Of course that doesn't mean it's true though!

"They also mention that the Protoss will be part of multiplayer on 1up.com."

I met the reporter from 1Up there, and they weren't the one who passed me the rumour. So if they were in the Q&A session where that was supposedly said, it may lend weight to the rumour.

Wouldn't surprise me. They're really trying to get a "Starcraft, ground level" feel to the multiplayer, so it would fit right in.

Re: OPM2 preview. It's very rare that there's any form of copy approval in a magazine.

This game will never be released. Ever. Its like Duke Nukem Forever but with the potential that it may be quite good.

DNF may be quite good too, just try to follow the 3D Realms forum now and then.

Ghost sounds promising (great CGI-trailer too) but a PC-port is the least they could have done to please the majority of the real Starcraft-fans (after all, the story still takes place after Brood War). Seeing that model of Mengsk on the site, it almost convinces me to buy a console anyway though.

Once this game finally gets released, I'll gladly be purchasing my Xbox copy. Although I must say I liked the game's old style (Pre-developer change) better.

Singplayer is still there they just diden't demo it. Or i'm asuming it is since there's been no anouncement of it being scrapped. If it has been then I'm not buying this.

It's the intro sequence verry awsome. They also got the Broodwar intro up there, was also shown at Blizzcon. Gametrailers seem to think it's related to Ghost though for some reason.

Just commenting on the cube version cancellation. It seems to me that single player could be the weakest aspect of the game. It was canned due to the lack of a good online service. This makes it look as if the multiplayer is the focus of the game, as they weren't prepared to release an incomplete and inferior product. So anyone interested in this without a BB account, you could well be striking it off your list.

Wouldn't surprise me

Well Blizzard are known for their high standards, I suppose. That is assuming it doesn't get shifted to PS3 and XBOX360. They couldn't cancel it now not after 5 years and two studios.

I'll put up with any delay for this, as long as does get released; hell, if get pushed back far enough I might be playing it on my PS3, which I'd much prefer ...
