Will be interesting to compare it with the PS3's version, utilising the NEW controller.

But I think mercury is funner to move around then a monkey in a ball....but thats juste me.

Lovely.

Although nearly all of EG's coverage of the Wii states concerns over the sensitivity of control the new controller allows. Surely these concerns will be addressed by the time of launch otherwise it's a bit like Nintendo shooting themselves in the foot.

I really hope Monkey Target's in there. Surely it's bloody obvious that the Wii controller was tailor-made for it.

That Darts minigame sounds wicked. Keep imagining holding the Wiimote like a dart and doing a proper throwing motion. I can live out my Martin "Wolfie" Adams dreams.

why do all the wii games look so bad graphically? They could easily be confused with games from the original xbox...

Crazy to think it is now Sega supporting Nintendo in such a meaningful way.
And what's the problem with xbox visual?

Actually, I agree, I thought the accompanying screenshots didn't look that good. It looked more basic that either SMB1 or SMB2.

BTW - SMB2 already supports Widescreen and Prog Scan.

Thats the point Nintendo have really sacrificed the graphics for new way of playing and also no dolby digital. So the graphics will probably not be superior to XBOX.

Will it succeed?

I think so most definately. Just like the DS. Mark my words

Abeit2: yup I know, and it's a fair trade in my book, yo some extent.
I'm not expecting PS3 or 360 graphic quality. But I'm still a little disappointed, some bells and whistles would have been nice :(

"I really hope Monkey Target's in there"

I second that with three bells and possibly some form of air powered horn.

Couldn't really give a tinker's fart what the GFX are like. MB was never about the visuals and it still isn't IMHO, particularly given the cartoonic art style.

I really think the game should come with a giant plush banana, that you have to fit the wiimote into. Anyway, Monkey Ball on Wii is a no brainer - it is bound to work well, and I think that'll be a must-have launch title IMO.

Graphics look fine to me, although I'd expect -all- games without exception to run at 60fps. Might be the only console to actually achieve that too. I like my 360, but for the most part the graphics have been disappointing. Full of detail and effects, jerky jerky all over again. At which generation exactly do they actually get that right? It was fine on the 16 bits.

Swiftly becoming a parody of yourself. I'm sure it appears to you that a little self referential humour makes you appear more endearing, or less of an obsessed fool. Its not working.

Damn, I had a beer or two too many, graphics looks like crap, if it were a PS3 game people would be tearing their hair off........... well, ofcourse since it's Nintendo hopefully the gameplay is good...... hm... well to be honest I really don't give a shit about childrens games..... I'll probably buy it for my children though.....

Sounds pretty good. I love monkey ball and was planning to get a gamecube version of number one to run on the backwards compatability of the wii, maybe I won't have to.

I'm interested to see how the ps3 version turns out. Iwas really disapointed with the controls on the xbox version of deluxe, but you'd hope that the ps3's version would do away with these problems.

Do people really play Monkey Ball games to look at pretty graphics?

I mean, honestly. I could understand people saying "the graphics look crap" if we were talking about an FPS or driving game, but they seem really out of place when Monkey Ball is the subject.

It looks like a lot of fun, and I'm sure there will be options to change the controller sensitivity. They'd be nuts not to.

Monkey nuts.

Can someone explain how the control works for the main game (should be mandatory in every wii article)? Got the darts and hammer bit, but how does the ball get controlled? Do you tilt the wiimote, or move it forwards and back, or what?

How non-slip is the wiimote by the way: it better be covered in super glue otherwise one sweaty palm, and that hammer throw or running thing is a recipe for wall craters and fragmented wiimotes.

Come to think of it, that's probably going to be a significant issue. How much is a replacement wiimote, and can it take a few knocks? Must be some pretty significant kit in there to get that functionality...
