Not just in Japan, turns out. Everywhere!

Update:Turns out that the 10th July start date for the beta test applies worldwide. It's been confirmed on the game's English Twitter.

Original story: Square Enix has announced that the closed beta test for its next MMO, Final Fantasy XIV Online, will begin this weekend in Japan.

The news appeared on the official Twitter feed for the game (thanks, Andriasang).

Square Enix recently revealed that the game would launch on 30th September worldwide on PC - but that the PS3 version has been delayed until March 2011.

Beta starts for *all* areas saturday 10th, just like the Alpha was. EU, NA and JP areas have a four hour slot each to test the game. Start reading the fine print, Oli! ^^

Tempted to get involved but don't think my laptop will be able to handle it. By the time the PS3 one comes out I'll be too far behind. Meh.

Exactly the same situation. Might still try it out on the PS3 regardless - wait and see what the general concensus is first of course.
