FFXIII Xbox 360 bundles revealed

Engraved hard drives! Avatar bits!

Final Fantasy XIII is coming to Europe on Xbox 360 as well, and to make sure you remember, Square Enix and Microsoft have teamed up to do two special console bundles.

The Special Edition bundle has a 250GB hard drive engraved with the Final Fantasy XIII name - oh my GOD! - as well as two wireless pads, downloadable Avatar items (Rosch outfit, Nabaat outfit, Chocobo pet) and a copy of the FFXIII game.

If you pre-order the Special Edition bundle you'll get a fancy faceplate created by Tetsuya Nomura - the man who dreamt up most of the characters in Final Fantasy.

The more rubbish Elite Bundle has a 120GB hard drive, one wireless pad and a copy of the game.

Both bundles also contain an Xbox 360 machine.

Final Fantasy XIII is due out in Europe on 9th March. That's a Tuesday, by the way.

Hooray! Is the game still a tedious slog through endlessly repeated battles? Probably!
  • Quak #2 2 years ago

Both bundles also contain an Xbox 360 machine.

Thank God you pointed that out!
  • GamerG #3 2 years ago

    is it a white machine?
  • FladgeMangle #4 2 years ago

"Both bundles also contain an xbox 360 machine" lol

    Prices?
  • ZuluHero #5 2 years ago

Any news on a PS3 equivalent? And I still don't know what platform to get this on!
  • drumbaby #6 2 years ago

Don't forget the cardboard boxes the machines come in have FFXIII stuff printed on them in actual ink!
  • Halo.Jones #7 2 years ago

    @ Clearblue..

It's an endless slog with less battles and it comes with no freedom to roam.

According to Kotaku.com the 360 bundle is exclusive in the West. You'll have to import a Japanese PS3 to get a bundle, but the PS3 treatment is very nice. See -

Why am i actually thinking about selling my Limited Edition Forza 3 Super Elite to get this...Shut up head i dont need it!!!!!
  • Luckyjim #11 2 years ago

What's the appeal of limited edition consoles?
  • sfp_noodle #12 2 years ago

i fail to see how this is 'limited edition' the console is plain and the HDD has the games name printed on it? gimme a break! this will be the last 250GB bundle MS will force on consumers before releasing the standalone 250GB drive. kind of obvious since it was somehow released into their poorest territory (japan) recently
  • joushikijin #13 2 years ago

lol "the more rubbish 120GB bundle"
  • sfp_noodle #14 2 years ago

'The more rubbish Elite Bundle has a 120GB hard drive, one wireless pad and a copy of the game.'

lol EG pretty much admitted both bundles are rubbish
  • NotSoSlim #15 2 years ago

The limited edition console really is poor. Its like they have put no effort into it. Getting rid of the old white stock before impending Natal bundle this fall no doubt.

Also wont game shops offer a 250gb PS3 and Final Fantasy for about the same price if not cheaper? I dont get the need for this bundle at all.

    Thats just me lol
  • chessboxer #16 2 years ago

So it's a limited edition engraved HDD attached to a core console?
  • GamesConnoisseur #17 2 years ago

Who WOULD have imagined that there ll be a FFXIII X360 special edition console coming up at the time of the launches of X360/PS3?!

I know I got PS3 just a couple of months after launch on the strength of playing FFXIII on PS3 and other exclusives inc MGS4!

We ll see if this would add to any more sales from March onwards?
  • CHAZBIGPOTATO #18 2 years ago

Anthony Daniels, you may have got -21 at the time of my reading for that post, but as an Xbox afficionado I can honestly say that made me laugh.
  • F3nNec #19 2 years ago

please insert disc 3 kthx XD
  • amiganorm #20 2 years ago

Think about it the 250G HD Will cost as much as an arcade, add that to the elite including 2 wireless controllers plus a copy of the game...... No brainer really!!!
  • penhalion #21 2 years ago

Wow they're assuming FFXIII is going to sell really well aren't they.

In Japan, after the initial rush, word of mouth about it's linearity and boring story have pretty much killed it. Even the stores are discounting it massively there and it's resale value tanked because so many people tried to get rid of it so quickly. This is basically a JRPG that the Japanese think is overrated.

And now to garner some minuses I'll say What's the betting EG give it a 10/10.
  • Postumo #22 2 years ago

This game looks rubbish in my eyes, a solid 6/10 for being a "walk this line with some random battles from a cutscene to another".

RPG gaming has evolved and i though this kind of games were long forgotten... now square get them back to make their lifes easier. BAH!

Still waiting for The Witcher: Assassin of Kings
  • youhavenomail #23 2 years ago

Poor compared to that gorgeous Japanese PS3 edition. If you can't do it properly, Microsoft, don't make it an exclusive deal.
  • ZuluHero #24 2 years ago

    @penhalion

I thought it was more due to the fact that everyone in Japan already owns a copy? ;)
  • chessboxer #25 2 years ago

Apparently this is a picture of the HDD.

Is that seriously what they are making a big fuss about?
  • uzivatel #26 2 years ago

@chessboxer: more like old Pro console
  • Badassbab #27 2 years ago

Smart move by MS. Another game formerly associated with Sony the last two gen that MS is prying away.
  • Velios #28 2 years ago

wish they had gone to as much trouble making the game great :( im gutted at the reception this game got, i was looking forward to it so much.
  • FladgeMangle #29 2 years ago

No mention yet of the fake 360 screenshots I notice... Might show xbox in a bad light so therefore not newsworthy?

Sorry to sound paranoid, but honestly, I'm seriously getting the impression of system favoritism on this site. Even against the PC, which is utterly ridiculous.
  • Retroid #30 2 years ago

    Nothing of any worth, then.
  • FladgeMangle #31 2 years ago

    @ mad-hacker

Not saying it isn't, just noting that other websites have mentioned the fakes "accidentally" released by Square and this one hasn't.

It's quite a big "mistake" and I'm assuming, on past experience, that EG doesn't want it noticed that there was a possibility that there was a slight chance that it might look as if, to a small degree, that there was a minute possibility that the xbox screens needed to be hidden for some reason. I'm sure they don't BTW.

I'm also sure DF will go mental about/ignore a few fps difference and ignore/rant about tearing (depending on which system they occur on) and dismiss poorer pre-rendered video playback quality as inconsequential when the time comes... :o)
  • TRUTH #32 2 years ago

Looks like FFXII is not the greatest FF game by the reviews coming in (Metacritic)!...I think with Mass Effect 2, Fable 2, Oblivion. Fallout, Demon's Souls et ctec; this rpg hasn't really done anything new as with last FF rpg's and is getting boring compared to rpg's already out.
  • vallhall74 #33 2 years ago

Why are ppl so dissed about several dvds on one game? anyone heard about harddrive install?? Then you just use one dvd for disccheck. Did it with Mass Effect 2 ...works like a charm ...:) loads faster too..
  • Darren #34 2 years ago

@vallhall74 - Regardless of whether you install Mass Effect 2's two discs to the hard drive, you still have to swap the disc 1 for disc 2 when prompted for verification, at least I did and the first thing I did was to install both discs. Yes, it speeds up loading times but, no, it doesn't reduce the number of disc swaps as you seemed to be implying as it still requires the same number. Not that I'm complaining, Mass Effect has just one single disc swap (albeit in a perculiar place) and once it's done you just continue to play the game from that disc.

I'm still buying FFXIII for the PS3 though.
  • muscleblade #35 2 years ago

    @Anthony Daniels

You are a silly little boy with a grudge against Microsoft.
    We get it.
Your comments are so silly i cant stop laughing. Please continue with your idiotic comments.

edit: Cant wait for the inevitable face off that proves the 360 version is just as good or even better.

I hear there's roughly 25 hours of FMV in the game, I think I'll be giving it a very wide birth or some reason....
  • linksdad #37 2 years ago

I swapped discs about 4 times total playing ME2 over about 40 hrs including a rerun of the suicide mission.
