FFCC: Crystal Bearers here in February

Wii action-adventure finally pinned down.

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers in Europe on 5th February.

The Wii adventure has just launched in Japan and will be available in the US on Boxing Day, bizarrely.

Crystal Bearers was revealed at E3 2005 long before the Wii (then the Revolution) had gone on sale. The idea, we presume, was to use the momentum generated by GameCube's excellent Crystal Chronicles from 2004.

Crystal Bearers is a single-player action-adventure with a focus on real-time combat and telekinetic magic. Japanese magazine Famitsu scored the game 30/40.

FFCC: CB. Jeebus pick a name.

Sounds like a US gov't agency. Or two.

bah - its out Boxing Day in the US :(

Still, sooner rather than later. And FF is getting a lot of releases in Q1 next year! Waiting for a FF game is a lot like waiting for a bus...

I definitely think they should just shorten the title to simply "Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers" But I guess dropping the Final Fantasy part loses marqee value.

I'm looking forward to this a lot though, even considering how busy early next year is. I think the CC universe is the best setting from any of the FF games, and I'm honestly looking forward to this more than XIII. I really love the steampunk-ish/Skies of Arcadia style.

I think they could drop the crystal Chronicles bit from the name but not the Final Fantasy part, that'd be akin to dropping the Call of Duty name from MW2 (research showed that interest dropped heavily when the name was shown without the CoD label).

Gonna be interesting how this turns out, I hear the sales in Japan weren't too hot.

Now as long as they removed the need for one person CARRY THE CRYSTAL AT ALL TIMES i'll be happy. The original wasn't a bad game but it was a distant second to the glory that was Zelda: Four Swords.

It could also do with a more coherent story but really Squeenix, if you make one person carry the crystal at all times I will nerdrage. :/

    @khaz
There's been two CC games on the DS that were heavily multiplayer focused on they both dropped the idea of carrying the bucket, as they were both prequels and took place before the whole miasma poisoning ordeal.

This one is completely single player focused, and is set 1000 years after the Gamecube version, hence the jump in technology. So again, the poisoning surrounding the world is gone and there's no buckets.

Really? Excellent. I'll hunt the DS games down.

Its just a shame as I think they missed a real opportunity to improve on the original GC game. Zelda: Four Swords and the original FF:CC were two of a kind and again NSMB Wii has just come out but this game is heading down the single player path. :(

I think the bucket was just there to force all four players to stay on the same screen.

It also made it so the player carrying the bucket couldn't run, completely slowing down the pace of the game because the other players would have to walk just so the carrier could keep up.. Which was my only problem with it.
