F.E.A.R. Files demo on Live News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

11 October, 2007

Sierra Entertainment has poked us to say the F.E.A.R. Files demo is now available to download from Xbox Live.

It was expected on the service yesterday, but got lost in a spooky cupboard where it was waiting to jump out on someone to give them a jolly good fright.

The 585MB demo lets you test out the Extraction Point part of the game (the other being the new expansion Perseus Mandate); getting to grips with new weapons like the mini-gun and seeing what spooky little lady Alma has in store for you.

Yesterday Sierra announced that F.E.A.R. Files (360) and F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate (PC) would launch simultaneously in Europe on 16th November.

Pop over to our F.E.A.R. Files gamepage for more information.

Me too, I think it's an expansion, but I'm guessing the 360 version must be standalone?

It is stand alone on the 360 and contains both PC expansions.

Meaning you don't need the original game to play.

F.E.A.R. 2 - now known as Project Origin - follows on from the first game. It'll apparently ignore these expansion packs.

great demo - the amount of carnage and destruction the minigun brings is ace.

certainly more exciting that that recent sci-fi bore fest with the crap plot, what was that called again?

No no, F.E.A.R. Files is both Extraction Point AND Perseus Mandate.

The first one was fantastic, Bioshock Halo3 devs - that's how you're supposed to end a game

Monolith are shit hot, rather than shit as you propose

Too FPS-hardcore for me taste, but its crew say its one of the best. I'll pass, though.

Loved the first game (on PC) but I confess I'm yet to finish off Extraction Point and can't see that I'll be bothering with another expansion pack... law of diminishing returns and all that...

If you manage to not bore your audience with identikit levels and enemies first, of course.

the minigun lived up to my expectations but the super-gay mincing movement of your 'persona' was funnier than a whole heap of Simpsons movie games.

The minigun was really cool. It included some heavier weapons than I've had access to in 360 FEAR, as far as I've played of it. I'd prefer to walk with run as toggle though. Demo overall was good, if brief. Could be worth buying the full game.

Never loved the 360 game but I did finish it. haven't played it since. great AI but the levels were really repetitive. I'll download this anyway. the slo-mo shotgun kills are quite cool.

Calm down, Resistance might have had a poor plot, but no need to call it a borefest....

F.E.A.R on 360 is NOT shit.Single player is in top three FPSs for 360.The problem is the 50 pounds RRP and this would be almost acceptable in a big games-starved spring season-not this autumn of purchase temptations as Orange Box,PES7,Mass Effect,KaL:Dead Men,SoF Payback,AA:True Soldiers,CoD4,Assassin's Creed,GT5:Prologue and more...

Just discovered that there's a PC demo of Perseus Mandate out there too. Nice of you to tell us, EG. I hate to make accusations of favouritism, but it really does seem that any time anything is on PC and 360, EG goes bananas for the 360 one and ignores everything to do with the PC one. Please take more notice of PC gamers.

From what I hear it is the two PC expansions put together in one stand alone package. Its not Fear 2...which apparently wont be called that anyway.

Either way more fear is a good thing. Joy.
