FCC approves new PS3 model numbers

Could just be hard drive changes, though.

With E3 just a few days away, it looks as though Sony could be set to unveil a new iteration of the PlayStation 3.

The new models have been outed by the Federal Communications Commission, as spotted by Engadget. They're named CECH-2501A and CECH-2501B. Sexy.

Don't get too excited though - the only difference seems to be with regard to hard disk configuration.

A pair of new debug units are also listed, titled DECH-2500A and DECH-S2500A. "Interesting since a debug unit is typically only required when there's been a change in the chips on the motherboard," points out Engadget.

Sony's E3 conference is on Tuesday, so if there's any news to be had you can expect it then.
