Fat Princess to cost 12 quid

Or 15 Euros to Continental types.

A European price for PlayStation Network title Fat Princess has been announced on the PlayStation blog.

It'll cost £11.99 / €14.99. As previously announced, the game is set for a global worldwide release tomorrow.

We were very impressed by what we saw of Fat Princess at E3 - read our hands-on preview to find out why.

£11.99 is a lot of money for a digitally download game in my opinion. Sure, the game looks great and I would love to play it, but I am finding that £7.99 is about the maximum I am willing to pay for anything on the PSN.

That sounds rather expensive. No sale here.

Then again, I don't even own a PS3. Why am I even caring.
Edit: I didn't mean to troll. Not sure why me not owning a PS3 upsets people.

Sold. Been looking forward to this for a while now.

I agree that it is a lot of money. I'll wait for a review in order to see if i'm getting this or not.

@ Paper: Why are you trolling?

15 euros, for what is offered, sounds like a bit too much. I won't buy before there's enough positive reviews...

"Then again, I don't even own a PS3. Why am I even caring."

You should be asking yourself that more than anything.

We are being overcharged again. Quite a few people (including me) are not going to be buying it for that reason. See the comments: [link url=http://blog.eu.p laystation.com/2009/07/28/fat-princess-worth-the-weight-here s-the-date/#comments

I think we already knew this?

Anyway, whatever dudes. If you think 7.99 is the maximum you're willing to pay for stuff on PSN, that excludes Warhawk, GT5 Prologue, Wipeout HD, Battlefield 1943, Burnout ... Your loss!

Anyway, I definitely think this game is worth 14.99. In fact, considering that it looks like a game I'll be playing for countless hours online, it's probably a steal.

    Sold.

Looks like I'll be putting my wizard hat on this Thursday.

well considering Wipeout HD itself is just as much Fury was just the addon, seeing as games like Trine for the pc IS £20 and thats only really a short game, whereas Fat Princess is a multiplayer game plus the fact that BF just sold a bucketload - £12 isn't that bad of a deal.

it's not like it's a moblie game or just a mappack, it's a fullyfleged proper title under £20 imo is still cheap for a full game... quit lumping these indie games with the DLC pricing it's not like they will only last 30mins

1:1 euro to dollar exchange rate. They really like to shaft Europe don't they.

Seeing as it isn't clear yet(?) exactly how much content the game offers I'll withhold my judgment until I've read some reviews.

This is all Sonys fault really. The publishers shouldn't be able to cherry pick vastly different prices for different regions, they should choose the price for their home region and Sony should have exchange rates set in stone (updated when currency fluctuates sufficiently of course) to prevent exploitation. This is what Apple does for the app store and it works pretty well. The EU is basically paying 5 euros over the odds here - which in a $15 game is a hefty percentage and pretty unforgivable in my book.

I was thinking it would be £7.99 to £9.99 but I will still pay £11.99 for it. Even if I only play it for 12 hours then £1 per hour is a bargin.

Weee... I was right on the money (heh!) reg. the EU price :D

Fairly priced and looks like a must-buy based on my short time with the beta!

@Emth : BF1942 was prices identically on PSN compared op XBLA. Also don't forget the US prices does not included sales taxes while the EU ones does (at least in my country).
  • Arwin #16 3 years ago

I think publishers should be free to vary prices regionally. It's not like all games have equal demand among the regions. It may well be that Battlefield's publisher estimated that people in the U.S. would pay relatively more for the game than people in Europe would. Heck, prices even within Europe or among stores in the same city vary for all sorts of reasons. That game was priced 14.99 euros as well by the way, so the U.K. price was the odd-one out there actually.

Sure, in these days where it's easier to compare things it may be annoying, but it's always more important to just consider whether or not a game is worth the asking price. I'm sure it's not that hard to wait a week and see what the word of mouth is or what reviews you trust are going to say about the game.

Grudgingly, I'll buy it. The comments on the US blog yesterday gave me hope that it would be available for £7.99 or thereabouts but I should have known that would never be the case.
  • El-Dev #18 3 years ago

Beano, I think BF1943 worked out about one quid dearer on the 360. Although that's in proper money, none of this Euro or Dollar malarkey.
  • Emth #19 3 years ago

    @Beano

    But BF1943 was $14.99 -> £9.99 where as Fat Princess is $14.99 -> £11.99

    Something definitely isn't right there.

It's all because SCEE and SCEA don't co-operate, the daft twats. You'd think they were two seperate companies the way things are with them at times.

I am interested in this, but will wait for reviews. I will also need to buy a mic, so the price is essentially going up...

I've never read so much retarded whining in my life as I have in that thread on the PS Blog.

Its very simple kids: The cost of living (average wage, taxation levels, housing prices, food costs) varies from country to country.

Setting a single, global price is STUPID as the amount of time and effort required to earn that sum is going to vary depending on the nation in question. Currency exchange rates are only part of the picture.

And seriously, getting bent out of shape over a £2 variance... You really must have nothing better to QQ about.
  • imranous #22 3 years ago

the US price is $14.99 which in exchange rate should be around £10 like battlefield 1943 was but for some reason Titan makes Fat princess more expensive to buy in the uk thinking tht no one will notice probs. BF 1943 is kind of the same deal to so i don't see how consumer would want to pay more thn 10 quid for this atm. Iguess reviews will edge this game on
