It is nothing like the first game, but that shouldn't matter, because it's going to succeed on its own merits.

The tag at the top says this was the 360 version, as is usually the case with multi-format games. Doesn't mean the screenshots are though.

And yes, the finger appears bent. I'd imagine a few seconds after that screenshot you'll see the player wrench his finger back into teh right place.

As skillian says, I'm guessing this is an injury the player has sustained and they'll snap it back to 'heal' it. There's supposed to be loads of injury animations, although I think the only ones I've really seen in videos are removing bullets with a knife.

Sounds promising... But it'll be hard to get CoD4 out of my drive slot.

The key to the success of this game online, as with LBP, will be the creation tools that ship with the game. If enough people get their hands on it, from everything I have seen, the only limit will be your imagination. However I would temper that and say that the other crucial part will be how ubisoft integrate their online options. If it's anything like the clancy games, it could become very tricky to keep a party together or promote newly made community maps.

Online is just added gravy in this case. I am all about the singleplayer.

I forgot about the Far Cry Instincts map maker until reading this. I had a lot of fun with tha map maker and played some great maps. Far Cry 2, LBP, Banjo - this season's so custom!

As long as there's a distinct lack of mutant-gorilla things with rocket launchers for arms that can take a shit storm of bullets before falling over in a pathetic animation, and muscle-bound midgets with claws that can jump 20 feet straight at you...

Then I might enjoy this game.

Yeah I generally hate FPS but this sounds interesting and I'd probably buy it to play with my FPS-luvin mate if it had co-op ...

BlackKraken, it is entirely real-world. No mutants to speak of.

A fun thing to do in the original FarCry was to go into the scripts and rewrite the rocket-mutants. So when they fired their rockets it went backwards into them. Combined with giving them no health to speak of, everytime you encountered those freaks they went: "Growl! BOOOM! *ragdoll*"

Good times.

So it's not a first person shooter, with boats, jeeps, enemies to kill, an engaging storyline, sniping and a massive open terrain to explore?

Oh well i must be thinking of a different game then.

Enemies to kill? Sniping? Didn't know that was exclusive to Far Cry. I'd hardly call Far Cry 1's story 'engaging' either. It did the job, that was about it.

Ok, it is similar to Far Cry, it has the large, open terrain, except the entire map is available rather than small portions of it as in FC1. It's Far Cry in name only, the devs have stated it's very different to FC1, and it's likely that it was only called Far Cry 2 because Ubi wanted to capitalise on the popularity of Far Cry (and Crysis, to a lesser extent).

But it matters not. It's going to be great. Better than Far Cry.

Oh, and it's Pear, not Pearl.
